In my neck of the woods, there's been a modified " Code Orange" for quite some time ( based on observations of military air traffic, heightened police presence, etc. )
They just haven't announced it as such.

Just ordered my freeze-dried fruit. Actually I just like it as a snack--no other reason.

Perhaps some grocery shopping is in order Don't forget to fuel up the car while you are out. I took care of my stockup this morning and have the corned beef in the slow cooker. Time to settle in for the show.....

The Department of Homeland Security, anticipating possible terror attacks, is expected to raise its color-coded threat barometer on Tuesday by one step, to orange, which will prompt tighter security measures at government buildings, airports, seaports, military bases and other facilities.

Well said. Not just to the poster, but to many others both on and off the web.
Don't mean to put words in anyone's mouth, but while there's a gung-ho attitude around this war, I know that they're all thinking about the young men and women who'll be carrying out the will of the United States. I know I am. God bless them all and keep them safe. Let's save the parties for when the come home victorious!

This is why the color coding is soooo stupid, and I'm a huge Ashcroft & Ridge fan: What level is orange? Highest? Numbers would be so much easier.

Opinion on keeping the kids home from school? Yes, it's always best to keep the kids home from public school. Homeschool is much better.

orange--highest?
It is the second highest.
Red is highest, and presumably means an attack is either imminent or has just occurred with more expected.
It will be interesting to see if they go to "red" once the Iraq action gets underway.
