Powell to speak at 10:45 AM...
To: WxMan2000
My recollection is that these presidential speeches tend to follow, not precede, the beginning of military action. Saddam better run now -- instead of weeks and months, it is now minutes and hours.

Admins better get their act together on this site. I posted a thread about the vote. It was pulled. The second thread about the subject was locked quoting that it was a duplicate of my thread.

One Presidential address to say negotiations and diplomacy are over and war will be necessary. Then we'll have another address later in the week to announce that the bombing has started.

Bush to Address U.S., Demand Saddam Leave
Mon March 17, 2003 10:18 AM ET
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush will demand in a speech to the American people on
Monday night that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein leave Iraq to avoid war, a White House
spokesman said.
Bush will speak at 8 p.m. after the failure by the U.N. Security Council to reach a consensus on
how to deal with Iraq.

I have heard that an orange alert will go into effect for New York. Extra flight patrols etc. Anybody else heard anything like this and for other cities like Washington maybe?
