Containment-Geraldo's At Large Ego- A Must
Fox News- Geraldo at Large (10pm EST 3/16/2003) | 3/17/2003 | Self

Posted on 03/17/2003 6:51:46 AM PST by Helms

Rivera is now a much older and smallish man than the days when he milked the mental health system for its tragedies and used day time TV as a human garbage can in which to shove lifes losers into his own personal profit.

After all, Geraldo helped pave the way for Gerry Springer as well as other low life media and TV prostitutes of the lower end of human nature.

Last evening and instead of the Capone Vault, Fox's # one resident Ego in Afganistan stood proudly on the former field of battle and also showed us the damage done by the Taliban in destoying the Budda figures which lasted for millenia. Fortunately for the human race, Geraldo's work will last only in his own mind.

While this was a valid point, the showmaster and circus barker also allowed his Fitchean and Fruedian Superego to transcend the normal TV set and invade homes tuned in. He was calling everyone "brother" and brought in his brother side kick for brotherly self promotion.

Let us hope that Fox and Roger Ailes keep his Ego in Afganistan and off the battlefield of Uraq.

Better yet, fire him when the war is over and signal the deathnel of the 90's and the liberal and trial lawyer extraveganza shows he has hosted over the years (he is not a "journalist").

He's fine where he is. He's done some nice shows on our toops in the field. Fine looking soliders.

He couldn't be left in Turkey for certain reasons. Have you noticed that we're basically seeing no reporting from Turkey lately?

Nope, nothing to see there.

I'm with you 100%. When I hear them say, " a report will follow from Geraldo "The Fake"", I switch to the History Channel.

I have more respect for Mike Farrell than I do for Rivera.
Farrell is a left wing jerk but he is consistently a left wing jerk.

Rivera adapts his viewpoints to suit the audience he is talking to at the moment

Well, I never thought I'd have a kind word for Geraldo but I do. I've enjoyed his reporting from the field in Afghanistan. I think its great that he gives our guys airtime and I don't see any other news channel doing the same. With all the action coming up in Iraq, we can't forget our guys in Afghanistan. Just be sure to filter out his crap and the show is fine. He also seems genuinely sincere in his regret for the treatment of returning Vietnam vets and is trying (sometimes too stridently) to make up for it.

One other thing, organizing a LIVE show from Afghanistan with interviews in other places around the world must be quite a technical accomplishment.

Oh, I liked it and think he is doing a great job cruising around to the trouble spots in the world. He stood up to that on chick congress women and made her look stupid, I could almost hear Geraldo booing her under his breath as she spoke.

I saw Geraldo's segment last night--I agree with your post, and I thought it was VERY interesting and well done. Yes, Geraldo has his trade-mark vocabulary and mannerism, but aside from that I think he did a great job of portraying a "just war" angle, while showing much support for our troops. The segment was a composite of our Reservist Reconstruction task force, the history of the buddhist statues destroyed by the taliban, the local Afghan people (decendants of Ghengis Khan), and air time for troops to send a message home.
His segment appeared unscripted and I give FoxNews credit for allowing him a freelance style.

The only light he will ever see is the light he sheds by his own ego-he has hardly changed.

Most of the time I like Geraldo. He's kind of a goofball, but I think he works well in the overall mix at Fox. At times he's annoying and he showboats, but he does some good work too. That's the paradox of Geraldo.

I still say that he would perform unnatural acts on a camel to have had the interview with Sadaam. He will forever carry the stench of kissing Klinton's A$$ for so many years in my book. He and Ratner are a waste of FNC payroll.

He is doing a good job.... I think 2 years ago he saw which way the conservative media wind was blowing and seriously re-examined his future and then made the switch. (I'm not so generous with Gretta V tho.....somehow she's not as convincing.)

Ernie Pile and Geraldo in the same breath- you are either a fool or a disrupter or slept through the 90's.

The one redeeming factor of Rivera's weekend shows have been our soldiers. As soon as that Sanchez witch (Congress Critter-D) started spewing her bilge last night, I turned the channel. I'm sure the men in uniform had all they could do not to throw her raspberries. She certainly deserves them. Having these shows has at least provided our troops with some semblance of entertainment and is probably a much needed relief from the rigors of training until the real war starts. God bless our troops and God Bless America.

That is the mixed message that he brings- I don't need geraldo to showcase our troops-let other real FOX journalists do the job.

Absolutely. In fact, back then I suggested that investigators should've swabbed Geraldo's mouth if they needed a sample of Clinton's DNA.

Still, I find his shows on Afghanistan interesting. You have to admit that he does get out in the field rather than stay in NYC or LA.
