"U.N. chief weapons inspector Hans Blix was also ignoring the threat of a possibly imminent war for the moment and preparing to give the Security Council a 30-page report Monday listing about a dozen key remaining disarmament tasks that Iraq should complete in the coming months.

Speaking on CNN's "Late Edition," Powell said the remaining tasks Blix planned to identify were issues the "Iraqis could have resolved any time over the past five, 10, 12 years, and they have not. That's the problem."

After listening to the news conference in the Azores, Blix described the situation as "very threatening," but he made no plans to evacuate his weapons inspectors in Baghdad, saying he was watching the situation "hour by hour."

France won't call the meeting on Monday because then we would be getting our way. EVERYTHING we do they have to spite us. The more time we give, the more time they take.

This is just amazing!

I watched Cheney get interviewed on MTP - he gave a rundown of all the times France has stopped the UN from taking action against Iraq. So, this is nothing new - just part of the pattern France has been doing all these years.

If they ignore the USA and UK tomorrow, war will probably begin on Wed. - and I hope we give them a letter suspending our membership just prior to that - along with a DEMAND for our money!

This is a joke. It has to be a joke. These cannot be adults. These cannot be real humanoids. No. Not in a sane universe. They cannot be so.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - France called for an emergency U.N. ministerial meeting Tuesday to set a timetable for Iraq's peaceful disarmament

The French need to get a clue. Iraq will not disarm peacefully.

what to expect out of the terrorists.

The very notion of a sitting American President expressing displeasure with the French Government excalibrates the fundamental difference in values and idealogy. France has moved so far Left that under the Chirac regime they will never Right the wrongs of actively blocking American resolve. The next round of elections in France will only serve to separate the responsible from the ivory towerists. Hard economic times in France and even tougher political dealings from the USA will make the choice easy for voters to ease their own plight.

What is the possibility of France and her allies putting together a quick and dirty resolution tomorrow declaring an attack Iraq to be illegal? My guess is they know we have justification to go in under 1441 and they want to pass something very quickly that will block that 'legal' avenue.

The article says:   "The other option would be to abandon the resolution...[because]...If the resolution is defeated, an attack against Iraq would violate international law."

But Bush and Powell have both already made it clear that they will insist on a vote to clearly show where all sides stand. This is the right thing to do. The UN can take their "international law" and stuff it where the sun don't shine. The UN, France and Germany do not get to determine what is in the best interest of our safety and national security.

In my wildest dreams, I never EVER thought I'd see Bush stick it to the UN as cleverly and masterfully as he has done in this case.

It's a veiled threat against the US and a veiled preemtive condemnation for attacking Iraq. The French want to advocate the destruction or the weakening of the US, clear and simple.

If Blix has not removed the inspectors from Iraq before the Monday dead line, he is setting them up to be mayrters for the UN. IMHO. And look for the French and Blix to creat an international incident out of it. Chirac and the UN expose themselves to thier real intent, world domination through the UN, and the distruction of the USA. The future world will look back and see that President George W. Bush saved our sovereignty by not signing the KYOTO treaty (ENRON thought it was a done deal) or allowing control of US soldiers by the world court. The watermelons of the world were not happy.

For that reason, France pressed for a Security Council meeting at 3 p.m. EST Monday to discuss a joint declaration by France, Russia and Germany calling for foreign ministers from the 15 council nations to meet Tuesday to discuss Blix's key remaining disarmament tasks and agree on a "realistic" timetable for Saddam to disarm.

Hmmmmm. Realistic. Well, let's see. Twelve years wasn't enough. Maybe we should give Saddam twenty-four years this time?
