No they didn't or Kansas would be a #1 seed not Texas.

Kansas definitely had an argument for a 1 seed. If Simien had not been hurt they may have gotten it. Kansas' lack of depth will hurt them in the tournament.

An interesting site
RPI Rankings that rates OOC schedules. Interstingly, Auburn's was #33 ahead of teams like Kentucky, Pitt, Michigan State, Maryland, LSU, Gonzaga, Colorado, NC State, Tennessee (120). Boston College had an OOC ranking of 57.

Beautiful.

With Simien out, Kansas still won the Big 12, beat Texas and won one more game in the tournament than Texas. Also, Texas was beat by Tech (who is not in the Big Dance) and Kansas lost to Missouri who almost beat Oklahoma(who is a #1 seed). True that Kansas has very little depth but that shouldn't give Texas the #1 seed over Kansas.

Here's a complete list of AU's OOC schedule (opponents RPI in parentheses).
11/22 Auburn 81, (233) Wofford 63
11/26 Auburn 100, (218) Georgia St. 71
12/01 (58) Western Kentucky 89, Auburn 70
12/02 Auburn 77, (252) SE Louisiana 47
12/04 Auburn 85, (178) South Carolina St. 65
12/08 Auburn 82, (129) Rutgers 70
12/14 Auburn 72, (135) Murray St. 53
12/17 (86) Western Michigan 72, Auburn 54
12/20 Auburn 94, (NR) Puerto Rico Mayaguez 64
12/21 Auburn 63, (173) Denver 58
12/22 Auburn 94, (66) Troy St. 66 Neutral
12/30 Auburn 92, (149) Southern Mississippi 46
01/02 Auburn 90, (256) North Texas 65
Personally, I think AU deserved to get in over BC, Seton Hall, Tennessee and Texas Tech. The SEC was regarded as the best overall conference from top to bottom and I think this is why AU got in. The strength of the league they are in was the deciding factor.

I agree with you, an argument could definitely be made. It's semantics though. There's not much difference between a 1 and 2 seed.
To: American Blood
The strength of the league they are in was the deciding factor. I agree. Believe me, most Auburn folks would love to see the OOC schedule beefed up...alot. We'll just have to see if Ellis wants to take that risk.
AU is by no means anything other than a football school. We are certainly "happy to be there" but are a little annoyed with the screeching going on in the national media. If we suck so bad, we'll be bounced early. If we are as good as our record in the SEC, we should get past St. Joe's.
BTW, I hear they've changed their name to "Western" St. Joe's...:-)

How fired up is AU going to be for that St. Joes game? With the entire nation bad-mouthing them, look for the tigers to come out with a mad on. I wouldn't be shocked to see them knock off Wake Forest in the second round. I'm still debating on if I'm going to go with that on my official bracket.

From
http://www.kenpom.com/rpi.html
RPI Rankings:
rank-team----(record)-rpi-(strength of schedule)-sos rank
1 Kentucky---(29- 3)--.6596-------(.5774)-----15
2 Arizona-----(25- 3)--.6489------(.5675)------30
3 Oklahoma--(24- 6)--.6471------(.5961)-------3
4 Texas-------(22- 6)--.6434------(.5960)-------4
5 Georgia-----(19- 8)--.6352------(.6123)-------1
6 Kansas-----(23- 7)--.6351------(.5913)-------6
nonconference:(record)-RPI-(Rank)
1 Kentucky---(10-3)--.5940----(38)
2 Arizona-----(8-1)--.6867----(1)
3 Oklahoma--(9-2)--.6268----(14)
4 Texas-------(9-2)--.6351----(9)
5 Georgia-----8-3)--.6520----(4)
6 Kansas-----(8-4)--.6034----(31)
Texas and OU beat Kansas in RPI, SOS, NonConf. record, and overall win percentage. KS may have 1 more win than Texas, but they also have 1 more loss. All of TX losses were to teams ranked in the top 50 RPI, while KS has one loss to a team outside the top 50.
The committee made the right call in TX over KS. Sorry.
To: Diddle E. Squat
That's OK. Maybe it will fire up the Jayhawkers to actually come out and play up to their talent. Early season losses hurt them in the postseason but it's still a little strange that Texas gets a 1 and not someone else besides Kansas.
Maybe they wanted to have a rematch of Kansas and Arizona early in the tourney to get the big TV audience.

Could very well be the case. Until they come up against Texas, I'll be rooting for the Jayhawks(and even those dang Sooners, perish the thought).
Go Big 12.

The Boilers are a dangerous team. I wouldn't want to have to play them in a tournement situation where the refs are letting a little more go than usual----that's Keady's game. I'd like to see them play Texas---I think they could give them a run.The sad truth is that Keady didn't start out that way, but years of having his players get pounded in the Big Ten have forced him into that style of play and accordingly his team has the best win-loss record in the Big 10(11) over the last 20 years.
