Human Shields in Iraq to Be Hit by US Bombs, Or Torn Apart by Angry Liberated Iraqis? (Your Vote)

Call it idiocy? Call it tragedy? Call it treason? That's right: "HUMAN SHIELDS"
Whatever the explanation, there is a very good chance that war will begin soon in Iraq and it will begin in a most shocking, awesome and horrific way.
In addition to seven hard-line Japanese "human shield" nationals who have so-far refused to evacuate Iraq, many international protestors face a most perilous future defending a lost and faulty cause.
One of the big questions is whether push will come to shove and we will see either the demise of these anti-American activists due to bombing by Coalition forces, or whether these individuals will meet their unfortunate and perhaps terrifying demise at the hands of wrath-filled, liberated Iraqi citizens who will see their dictator has fallen from power and that there will be no reprecussions to striking out against all people and things that symbolize the terror they had to live under with Saddam Hussein?
Should the USA/UK or other liberating forces even feel obligated to rescue those that survive the bombing but are the target of angry, liberated Iraqis seeking retribution for their long suffering?

I actually believe that most of them will initially survive, but that a good number of them may well be killed shortly thereafter once the regime has fully fallen.

I tend to agree with you. I hope there are pictures and I hope they're televised in living (while it lasts) color.

This time next month these unfortunate and misguided souls will be nothing more than a few blood and guts grease marks on a wall somewhere.
History will forget them instantly.

I thought it was published a few days ago, that most of the human shields had returned to their countries. If any are left, I hope they are taken care of by the Iraqis that are soooo fed up with Sadam.

I agree in that the so called human shields may have as much to fear from the liberated Iraqi's as anything else. They may see them as supporters of Saddam. Parley

Vaporized human shields should not be referred to as collateral damage but merely as organic debris.

Give your life to protect Saddam Hussein. Sometimes you just got to know which battles to fight, and which aren't worth the effort.

Quite true, of course. But your vote: i.e. will most of them die in the bombing or will they be hunted down and eliminated by angry, revenge-seeking Iraqi citizens that they would have thought they were defending?

There is a third group that the 'shields' might want to avoid if they survive the first two threats.
The Iraqi's who support Saddam are going to be verrrrryyy pi$$ed...

If they go - what difference does it make how they went? As long as they're gone, I'm not one who really gives two hoots and a tinker's damn how it happened.

Yes, most of them have given up and come to their sense or lost their courage. At any rate, there are still a number left, including Japanese, Korea, European and I believe some Americans. And time is drawing near.

There's another possibility:
Killed for the cameras by Saddam's henchpersons dressed in
those authentic US uniforms they've buying and stockpiling.
If there's a conflict, and Saddam fires the first shot,
there's real risks for these useful idiots.

We are at war. People who obstruct the deployment in a time of war, or otherwise help the enemy in a time of war, can be charged with sedition. That's what should happen to human shields.
To: Boundless
Excellent. Had not thought of that! That is something that Saddam would precisely do.

I think they will be shredded by bombs, then their legs will be used by the Iraqis as cricket bats.

Let's NOT let that happen. We should bookmark all these news updates on human shields and ENSURE that Okeefe is tied to it. Since he recruited for this, and he is now safe and sound, we should ENSURE his name is held in accordance with whatever fate becomes these people.
To: Tax Government
Human shields make good targets. They should not get the idea that anyone is trying to spare them.

Torn apart by newly liberated Iraqis would send a better message than "murdered by tools of the corporate war machine", i.e. American bombs.
It'd last longer, too :)
