The newspapers souce informed that Iraq agreed upon all American conditions both regarding disarmament issues, and the issues to set up the coalition government and to have Saddam Hussein as the 'non-ruling President.'
The newspaper also wrote that negoiations slowed down at three points.
First of all, Iraq rejected the idea to deploy American army bases on its territory. Second of all, Iraq is not ready to recognize the state of Israel immediately.
Nevertheless, the newspapers source was informed that Iraq would agree for that too, albeit to have that as a joint Arab decision.
Finally, Baghdad wants Washington to take account of Iraq's oil obligations to several foreign countries. The USA requires complete control over the oil industry.

Note the source is Pravda and probably represents Russia's idea of a wet dream.

No way Powell agrees to that title (of 'non-official President' for Saddam) , based on what the administration has been saying all along.
Unless this is some sort of secret deal like Bobby Kennedy and the Turks back in the '60s

Let me sum this up. Saddam is the good guy willing to do anything for peace. The United States wants war no matter what. This is all about oil. Now, wasn't that easy. Why waste space? < propaganda alert >

"Finally, Baghdad wants Washington to take account of Iraq's oil obligations to several foreign countries. The USA requires complete control over the oil industry." I wasn't willing to believe any of this article as anything else but disinformation from Arabs and Russians. The last sentence nailed it.
This is total Barbara Scheisand.

Actually, the Saudi report in London doesn't say that we want war but I do wonder if this is the reason for the war summit in the Azores..to figure out how to divvy up Iraq

Has Dimitry Litvinovitch considered a career in Hollyweird? Often these fertile (full of freshly spread manure), implausible plots sell.
To: DoughtyOne
This is all about oil.And Israel. Of course Jews have to be a part of rabid anti-America propaganda.
