Former President Clinton lost the codes to nuclear war the day the Monica Lewinsky affair broke, was MIA in the fall of 1998 when a decision was needed on the killing of Osama bin Laden, and was "too busy watching a golf match" to OK a 1996 bombing mission in Iraq, says a blockbuster new book by Clinton's former military aide. Lt. Col. Robert Patterson, who carried the nuclear "football" from May 1996 to May 1998, crosses a line no other "mil aide" has before in condemning his commander in chief in Dereliction of Duty: The Eyewitness Account of How Bill Clinton Compromised America's National Security. "This story had to be told." But a Clinton national security aide, William Danvers, tells us Clinton was never "unavailable for key" decisions and didn't jeopardize U.S. security. One story: The day the Lewinsky scandal broke, Clinton was to trade in his "biscuit" with the nuclear launch codes. But they were missing. "We never did get them back," says Patterson. Then there's bin Laden: Clinton ducked calls from the Situation Room to ok a Tomahawk attack in 1998, then waffled until it was too late.

For Bill Clinton would be directly responsible for the deaths of 3,300+ Americans. But we pretty much knew that anyway.

Yes indeed, they played the servant/submissive part quite nicely.
Must be that rabid maddness against "RIGHT" they learned in school.

I've ordered it from the Conservative Book Club and will hate myself for having another Clinton book in the house but felt it should be authentic considering the author's position. Hope it's not a re-hash of everyone else's books but I love to hate Clinton so can't pass them up.

Clinton Drops Nuclear Football
British Broadcasting Company
April 26, 1999 BBC
US President Bill Clinton left a Nato summit meeting in such haste that he left behind perhaps the most important piece of luggage in the world - the "nuclear football".
Speeding off in his motorcade after a meeting at the Nato summit hall, the leader of the world's only superpower left behind the critical briefcase that contains America's nuclear bomb codes.
"Rather than wait for everyone to gather he just took off", said White House spokesman Joe Lockhart.
The case contains the electronic launch codes needed for a US nuclear strike and provides a link with the Pentagon through a telephone.
It is carried by and chained to a military aide and supposed to be near the president whenever he is away from the White House.
When President Clinton's motorcade left without him the aide who carries the briefcase then had to walk the half-mile back to the White House from the Reagan building where the summit was being held.
"We're safe," remarked Mr Lockhart following the safe arrival of the aide, adding: "These things happen." Fumbled football It has been called the most dangerous handbag in the world. The black attache case which has become known as the "nuclear football" has been passed from president to president since the days of Dwight Eisenhower.
Aides have been quick to dismiss this incident, but other presidents have had similar scares. Other incidents include: Left on board Air Force One in Paris when Gerald Ford arrived at economic summit Jimmy Carter left codes in his suit when it was sent to the dry cleaners Separated from Ronald Reagan when he was shot in 1981,

There was a rumor in 1998 that Resident Clinton was no longer being trusted to 'carry' the nuclear football, that other people had assumed that Presidential duty for him in his moral absence.

The guy was in the military and x42 was his commander in chief - not good to diss the CIC while you're still in the military.

Quidam!? I was working in DC and lurking a great deal at the time to counter the depression induced by watching Bubba Rex and Hillary Regina. (I do remember your posts...you've been around forever...:)
His/her posts were entertaining Haiku and had a ring of truth to them. I do recall the nuclear football story, but would be hard pressed to say when it appeared. My take on Quidam was that a disaffected dem insider (not a political appointee) bureaucrat was either getting close to retirement or was totally fed up or both.

x42 was the worst - Carter was the most stupid - and totally lacking in common sense.

"too busy watching a golf match"..I knew it! Golf is a pernicious pastime that is corrupting our national spirit, as well as our national leaders. Statistics prove, that in the last 10 years the increase of golf courses has resulted in sexual depravity at the highest levels of government and business. The game of golf has caused us to become complacent regarding national security. While many Americans were either playing golf or contemplating playing the game, terrorism, for the first time was visited in living color to our homeland. Is this a coincidence? I think not!
The wealthy scion of a famous political family was found guilty of murdering a young girl with a GOLF CLUB! The government wants to fingerprint guns, but where is the cry to register golf clubs, often the weapon of choice of non gun owners. The amount of fertilizer and chemicals required to keep a green, green, is greater than the natural amount of manure obtained from grazing cattle and the runoff is harmful to our waste treatment plants, and therefore, life itself. Human beings in parched, barren foreign lands are starving to death while rich, greedy, horny, powerful white men frolic on cool green lawns and hit little white balls into little cups for entertainment. I ask you; Where is the Justice?!

You may want to try the "book on tape (or CD)" version too. Unfortunately, like the e-book, it doesn't look like a "book on tape" version is available yet.

This is devastating for the Clintons. Not true, this only raises their stature in the eyes of their partners in crime.
In this light, it makes perfect sense for Clinton to be recently talking about a "less powerful America" and similar topics.

Nothing is devastating for the Clinton's. There are too many people in our country who worship him for no other reason than that he is a Democrat. He fooled the majority of the people 1996 and enough of the people to win in 1992. His punishment is in his future and I imagine there will be "wailing and gnashing of teeth" on that day.

Another book, that I have just become aware of is- "See No Evil" by Bob Baer-author is a former CIA field officer and it sounds like it is his personal story and an indictment of the CIA,especially under Clinton. Available from Amazon, Michael Ladeen gave it a good review. The author stated on tv last week, that Clinton passed on supporting a coup that was all set to go,Kurds and Iraqi generals had a good plan,Clinton scotched it. Here's the blurb from the jacket that is infuriating-
" In 1995, the National Security Council intentionally aborted a military coup detat against Saddam Hussein, forgoing the last opportunity to get rid of him."
The more we learn, it is patently obvious that Clinton greased the wheels of terrorists.

Isn't it amazing, with all this documented stuff from all the various sources, that so many people are incredibly blinded and don't see the truth on this utterly evil couple.
To: elbucko
I am more likely to get golf courses banned, than Bill Clinton is will ever held responsible for his irresponsibility, high crimes and misdemeanors. Same goes for Hillary. They are untouchable.
Bill and Hillary Clinton will live rich and enjoyable lives, die wealthy at a very old age, and be mourned by half the country when they die.
I don't like it either, but this is the way of the world. That's why it's better to stop them at a midpoint, than let people like this achieve their permanent zenith.
I blame Ross Perot as much for this country's troubles, as I do the Clinton's.

You always have to parse what Clinton and his aides say... Danvers says 'Clinton was never "unavailable for key" decisions'. That's different than being "too busy watching a golf match" Everytime he or one of his former aides open their mouth, I'm always trying to figure out what they are really saying and not just taking what they say at face value..............oh well

He actually narrowly missed getting a majority of the popular vote in 96.
