YOU DID IT FREEPERS. Jesse says that the Governors wastebasket was overflowing with letters. You should all be very proud of yourselves as you have done God's work once again by helping your neighbor.

That said, we have to stay vigilant, as this "decision" still has much ambiguity to it. They will be back as it sounds like everyone (from the Governor on down) is letting Jesse alone through their teeth. There's a certain "seething" to the cabinet's tone.

Attitude: - "Who do these uppity landowners (including the county) think they are, not rolling over for us and our pol-pals".

Now, what once was a single 5-acre parcel contains four parcels, the value of which has risen. Instead of paying the property owner for the loss of one house, state officials must pay for four such losses, even though the entire region has been slated to be flooded for at least the past two years.

"This is incredible," Bush said. "We're taking action to purchase land under a power that makes me queasy when the local government wants people to build homes."

First, Congratulations to all those who helped. Second, it would be somewhat niave to not suspect some kind of conspiracy betwen the county (or more specifically, certain county officials) and the "speculators" to artificially drive up the land value in advance of the state's purchase. OTOH, all this is for an environmental project which, considering the condition of the environmental industry over the last several years, is nearly defacto evidence of fraud and waste.

FROM ALL OF YOUR KEYBOARDS TO GOD'S EAR!

You all should be very, very proud of yourselves. Jesse wishes to thank everyone from the bottom of his heart, you have no idea what this means to him. Your letters, emails, support and prayers came in like a cavalry from heaven.

Huge victory for OUR LIBERTY.

God bless you all.... and he will.

I dont think there is a real "conspiracy" to drive up the value(cost of purchase to the State) of the land, as some have speculated. There is great demand for land down there. Its a booming area. It seems the State wants to say that its desire for "conservation" should have influence over the county's desire for development and growth, and therefore, the County should somehow disallow property owners from subdividing and developing land.

Wow. Makes me glad I took the time -- I'm sure that everyone else feels the same. It feels great when the effort actually gets noticed and has some effect.

Looks like the Injuns have been beaten back, at least for now. You're right though -- this needs to be kept watch of, because you know the Collier policritters aren't going to give up. After all, they're paid to enact their home-grown brand of small-town tyranny.

Hey, maybe Jesse would want to come to one of our "fun shoots" on the other side of the canal -- what a way to celebrate this respite, eh? $;-)

Awwww. Not proud, just VERY thankful that the Lord saw fit to bless this guy with land that he 'loves'. It's now gonna be a battle between 'them' and God. HE doesn't seem to appreciate the idea of the 'big guys' moving the boundaries of the little guys.

Gov. Jeb Bush and the Florida Cabinet on Thursday gave Hardy and fellow Southern Golden Gate Estates resident George Miller more time to negotiate with state officials, who want to acquire their lands. Hardy and Miller have refused to give up their homes to make way for an environmental restoration project that has both state and federal blessing. Instead of forcing the pair off their land through legal action, Cabinet members told Department of Environmental Protection Secretary David Struhs to go back to the homeowners with a better offer

This demonstrates FREEPER POWER in action!

Governor JEB (God Bless Him) even answered my email!

This is a huge victory thanks to the persistance of all who wrote, called & emailed!

This is great news. I'm very happy for Jesse and his son. We should thank Governor Bush for taking the time to read the letters and to personally check out the situation.

I'm so glad this has worked out for now.. but it sure sounds like this is only a delay. Hopefully it will still work in Jesse's favor in the long run.

WoW

YEAH!

Been an interesting week. And the week's not over yet!

Maybe Mr. Hardy will have some blessed peace in his life - but still, I'd advise he snag every loose nickel and dime for a rainy-day war chest for if or when those bureaucratic pantloads get another brain fart.
