...Iain Duncan Smith, leader of the opposition Conservative Party, emerged from a meeting with Prime Minister Tony Blair to say war appeared likely because of France...

I really, really hope he meant war with france.

The French deny it. They say their aim is peace . . .

I knew this would happen. Everyone seems to forget that there is no love lost between the Brits and froggies. No love lost for that matter between the Brits and the continent as a whole. However this move by the Blair govt is way overdue...they should have been pointing out the obvious frog obstrction from the begining.

Perhaps when returning from their triumph in Iraq the British army can take the scenic, overland route from Marseilles up through Paris and on to Calais...

The British should just fulfill an ages old dream by invading France and conquering it. Upon which the french of course would immediately surrender. Then the British could colonize and govern these french fools.

French Products and Companies to Boycott

A list of French companies products to boycott. Some are well known, but many are not. Here goes.

The gang at FrogWeenies (www.metrospy.com) notes: "France's behavior in front of the UN has been disgraceful. Their attempts to block, veto and prevent the US lead military action in Iraq does not promote peace, it simply reinforces the will of tyrants and terrorists."

It lists French products to boycott. You will probably be surprised to learn the French own everything from Wild Turkey to Car & Driver to Motel 6 to cheesy Spencer Gifts to disgusting Democrat schlock-show host Jerry Springer.

• Air France. Air Liquide. Airbus. Alcatel. Allegra (allergy medication). Aqualung (including :Spirotechnique, Technisub, US Divers, and SeaQuest). AXA Advisors

• Bank of the West (owned by BNP Paribas). Beneteau (boats). BF Goodrich (owned by Michelin). BIC (razors, pens and lighters). Biotherm (cosmetics). Black Bush. Bollinger (champagne).

• Car & Driver Magazine. Cartier. Chanel. Chivas Regal (scotch). Christian Dior. Club Med (vacations). Culligan (owned by Vivendi).

• Dannon (yogurt and dairy foods). DKNY. Dom Perignon. Durand Crystal

• Fina gas stations and Fina Oil (billions invested in Iraqi oil fields). First Hawaiian Bank.

• George Magazine. Givenchy. Glenlivet (scotch).

• Hennessy. Houghton Mifflin (books).

• International Herald Tribune.

• Jacobs Creek (owned by Pernod Ricard since 1989). Jameson (whiskey). Jerry Springer (talk show)

• Krups (coffee and cappuccino makers).

• Lancome. Le Creuset (cookware). L'Oreal (health and beauty products). Louis Vuitton.

• Marie Claire. Martel Cognac. Maybelline. Méphisto (shoes and clothes). Michelin (tires and auto parts). Mikasa (crystal and glass). Moet (champagne). Motel 6. Motown Records. MP3.com. Mumms (champagne).

• Nissan (cars; majority owned by Renault). Nivea. Normany Butter.

• Parents Magazine. Peugeot (automobiles). Pierre Cardin. Playstation Magazine. ProScan (owned by Thomson Electronics, France). Publicis Group (including Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising).

Does anyone think that France's insulting refusal to even consider Blair's proposal will help Blair garner more support in the UK for going in without the UN?

Hmmm...All the French want is peace?

I don't remember them calling for peace in the Yugoslavia matter. Oh wait, there was no financial incentive for peace there.

Oh, those peaceloving French!

Absolutely! The British public is getting more and more on board, an almost singlehanded accomplishment by Chirac.

According to Time Magazine (I know, I know), the boycott is having almost no impact on French companies.

I'm not seeing that yet. The UK public opinion poll reported on Fox News last night was dismal -- if I recall correctly, Blair had something like 16% of the public behind him. He has a long way to go.

I must have misheard. I thought something like 75% was with. Must have been the other way around. Maybe it's time to get that Alzheimers test.
