The other night, at their opening for their tour in London, they indicated on stage that they were sad to know/hear that our President was from Texas. Again, it is sad to see and hear yet another "celebrity" announcing that they are ashamed of their President of their Unites States. I just wish we would get over and get back so that these "celebrities" would quit using all of these Grammy, Emmy, own concert "stages" to provide their political saitre.

If they want to trash the president and join the anti-war crowd, I suggest they move to Hollywood and the pop/rock celebrity pundits, because they will never find welcome in the country music culture.
I have just published an article on Capto Veritas detailing the statements of Natalie Maines and the backlash:
'Chicks trash Bush, fans fight back

ZZTop wrote some bumper music "JUST" for Rush.
Hope that helps.

I posted this earlier on the "other" Dixie Tricks thread. (I knew they were up to no good back when the lended their "Wide Open Spaces" song to the Environmental Defense Fund).
As a West Texan, I have heard that the Dixie Chicks' manager lives in Lubbock. Additionally, Natalie Maines is from Lubbock, and her entire huge family lives in Lubbock. Her dad, Lloyd, just produced "Home," their latest CD, and he lives in Lubbock. In fact, her uncle, Kenny Maines, is a Republican county commissioner. His wife, Sharon Maines, is the anchorette on the Lubbock NBC affiliate, KCBD. Basically, the Maines Bros. ("the boys in Lubbock"?) Band is how Natalie learned music. FReepers nationwide may want to get her family's attention (I'm sure they still exert some influence and can slap her back into reality), by writing letters to the editor at the Lubbock Avalanche Journal: www.lubbockonline.com

Well I suppose you're right about the background. I don't care enough about any radio squawkers to pay much attention to them and the gal who knew a former one is working out of town so i can't query her.
Good part about these people coming out with their political opinions is that it may cost 'em a little$$$$$$$.

Ditzy Chicks INDEED.
I would like to think that when anyone, especially a celebrity, makes ANTI-AMRICAN statements to foreign audiences when they are overseas, that the INS could (should) refuse them re-entry to the country.
Oh, yeah, the INS can't keep terrorists out, I seriously doubt they can keep seditious, self-promoting, anti-Americans out.
Boy, I'm sad.

Checking in from the FR Ian Tyson Fan Club LOL! We're on our way to a real "Springtime in Alberta" right now - if it ever starts to warm up. We're stuck on the part about
"Another winter storm comes raging through
And the mercury's fallin'...
Just like spring time in Alberta
Chills me to the bone".
Come along to Longview sometime for a great concert.
Thanks, Alberta's Child, for mentioning your great profile page - I hadn't been over to see it for a while.

Try some Ian Tyson, especially, "Old Corrals and Sagebrush" or "I Outgrew the Wagon" Old timey ranch music, well done and not overproduced. Don Edwards is great and so are Sons of the San Juaquin. All great. Have you heard R.W. Hampton too? - excellent stuff, and his latest CD has a couple of pieces where he's worked with Ian Tyson as well. Do you get to hear Hugh McLennan's Spirit of the West online or on radio there?

What a photo.
You know President Bush wishes he had a beard like that.
"Take a flying leap, Castro -- look at MY beard!"
