Thousands of Russians volunteer to defend Iraq
Around ten thousand Russian citizens have applied for entry visas into Iraq to defend this country against the planned aggression by the warmongering USA and UK, according to the Iraqi Embassy in Moscow.
Iraqi Ambassador to Moscow, Abbas Khalaf, declared last week that the Embassy had received around 3,500 requests, a number which has multiplied in the last few days, according to sources in the same Embassy.
The requests come from young males, some with combat experience, who describe themselves as volunteers who are willing to defend Iraq against the illegal armed aggression of the USA and the United Kingdom, two countries which continue to follow a belligerent stance on crisis management, wholly outside the generally accepted concepts of a New World Order based upon multilateralist approaches to problem solving, based upon the United Nations Organisation, a position championed by president Putins Russian Federation.
For those who present an adequate reason for travelling to Iraq, the Embassy provides a visa and transportation, free of charge.

This reminds me of all the Pakis flooding into Afghansitan to defend the Taliban.
BTW, I don't accept the concept of a New World Order.

Given the Ruskies' track record in Afganistan and Chechnya, I would say these "combat vets" are welcome. Hell, they might even be able to teach the Iraqis (and French) a thing or two about surrendering.

Guess I better toss my Russian mail order catalogs in the trash.

This is why trusting a guy who used to be a Colonel in the Komitet Gosvardarnost Bezpasnosti (KGB) is not very prudent.
For the conspiracy fans, are they volunteers or ordered?

So now they are parroting Jacques Chiraq.

The Russian volunteers may get upset when they are the only ones on their side doing any fighting.
BTW, don't they know that vodka is hard to come by in Iraq?

This sounds like a slick ploy by the Russians. I would guess the vast majority of these young men are moslems and isn't Russia also suffering from a Islamic Fundamentalist problem.
They come out against the war, encourage volunteerism amoung moslems and a few MOABs later and whaw-la a big part of their Islamic Problem is solved.
It's going to be funny watching all the Iraqi troops running out to surrender leaving the Russians back in the foxholes to be blown to smithereens.

Just try us...
If and when America pulls out of the sham called the UN and decides to flex its muscles when it needs to, it will be very interesting to observe to what extent the EU, Russia, and China will volunteer to be the UN "enforcer."

Of course, Russia could really screw things up by slipping a few thousand soldiers in to take over some key facilities (airports, etc.) It's happened in the past...

The longer GW dilly-dallies with the UN, the more confidence in him diminishes. WE are being perceived as weak now. Damnit, I am furious with this administration.
Subjecting us time and time again to the socialists at the UN has turned me against him.

Nice to see that Pravda's been transformed into an independent, unbiased news organization since the breakup of the USSR.
