Nonsense. If you are going to travel there are alternatives to RRI or M6 that are just down the road. Stay there and you are putting the same dollars into the local economy. Besides, what makes you think that most RRI and M6 employees are American?

Thanks for the info. I am going away all next week and probably would have stayed in one for a few days.

If you don't stay in Red Roof Inns or Motel 6, you put Americans out of jobs! How do you draw that conclusion? I will just stay at a different motel chain.
Will I be supporting the terrorist if I don't stay at one of these?

Thanks. It works for me. I spend at least a 100 nights a year on the road. I'll make sure none of them are spent with either chain.

Check the prices. Both Motel 6 and Red Roof Inns have some of the lowest prices of major chains.

You might as well throw RCA & Nissan into this; RCA was sold by GE back in the 80s to Thomson Electronics, which is a French outfit.
Nissan had to merge with Renault because they were so heavily in debt.
To: Bullpine
So which is it? Boycott or jeopardize jobs?

I must chime in on this. A neighbor of mine owns and operates a Motel 6.
Yes, the parent company is French, but all the Motel 6' are individually owned through franchise.
I don't have first hand knowlege but I would assume that Red Roof Inn is set up the same way.
The Franchise fee has already been paid and he must pay a royalty for continued use of the name for which he is contractually obligated.
In short, boycotting Motel 6 will have very little impact on the French parent company, but will severely impact American franchise owners and their employees.
The biggest impact to the French is to boycott consumer goods...Wine, MakeUp, Perfume...etc.

Stop using Nortel phones because they buy a lot of stuff from Matra.

"Stop using Nortel phones because they buy a lot of stuff from Matra." PLUS, the Avaya telephone systems I sell are a better buy and more intuitive to use than the expensive Canadian Nortel stuff.

Red Roof Inns are also franchises. Boycott Red Roof or Motel 6 and you are hurting Americans.

You are not hurting Americans if you stay in a competing motel down the street. Or do Americans only work at Motel 6 and Red Roof inns?

The worst night in a hotel/motel I've ever spent was in a Red Roof Inn. How interesting that it turns out to be French!
