Per Foxnews, US has suspended U2 overflights for UNMOVIC after Iraq objects to flights to clear the way for an air assault ass kicking. fixed it for them...

Yep, just saw the banner on Foxnews.com.
Nothing on the wires yet.

U2 overflights were never needed in the first place. They were just a red herring to show Saddam's unwillingness to cooperate.
We need the airspace opened up a bit for the B-52s.

From
AP:
WASHINGTON, Mar 11, 2003 (AP WorldStream via COMTEX) -- Iraq forced the suspension of U.S. surveillance flights, threatening one of two planes already in the air, a senior U.S. official said Tuesday.
Multiple flights are permitted under a U.N. Security Council resolution approved last November and the Bush administration is seeking clarification from U.N. inspectors, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity.

No need for overflights while bombs are falling."Here come the planes...
They're American planes,
Made in America.
Smoking?
Or non-smoking..."

FYI, Yesterday, MSNBC had an interview with a U-2 pilot at an undisclosed base...and showed some close-ups of the plane.....ALL US insignia have been covered, and the plane has big white "UN" painted on the tail.......

US ceases U2 overflights as Iraq objects IOW - we have gathered all the information we need, and do not need to risk any more flights.

Sounds like some more enthusiastic cooperation on the part of the Iraqis. I guess the French were right, Iraq just wans to help with inspections on the ground and from the air.
