OPERATION INFINITE FREEP-One man Support our Troops rally in Louisville, KY.

Taking an idea from Trteamer of the great Colorado Chapter of FR I conducted a one man "Support our Troops" rally at the front gate of the KY Air National Guard complex at Louisville Intl. Airport today. It was a spur of the moment decision on my way home from work and all I had was some poster board and a black marker. In bold letters I scribbled "WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS: THANK YOU U.S. MILITARY!" and headed to the base. A good portion of the C-130 airlift unit based there has headed out (It's been on the news. No loose lips here) but there are still plenty of service members on base. I parked my car and walked to the grassy area across the street from the front gate and held up my sign. At first I got some wary looks from the guards until they read my sign, then they both gave me big thumbs up. Traffic was pretty steady leaving the base (I'd timed it perfectly) and the honks and waves were uplifting. The grassy area where I was standing is the front yard of a KYANG annex building and the service members leaving work for the day were walking right past my position. It felt good to shake their hands and thank them for defending our freedom. Of course I plugged FR and our FR KY msg. board as well. The ones who spoke with me were glad I had taken time out to come down. I told them I hoped we could get a "Support our Troops" rally planned for them here in Louisville. Folks, if you haven't taken the time to thank your local military people then you're missing out. They need to hear from us. Thanks to all the FReepers across the nation for standing up to support our Armed Forces. Trust me they appreciate it.

Editor--

The papers are filled with coverage of potential activities by some groups eagerly anticipating the opportunity to petition their government. Some of these groups state they intend to block, disrupt, or interfere with daily commerce and federal activities.

Any activity in any fashion, large or small, that impedes the ability of the government to carry out its national security responsibility to its citizens becomes a serious matter (the security of my family, and all Iowa families, matters) . Such actions should be dealt with promptly by the legal system, up to, and including penalties incurred should some violate Article III Secton 3 of the U.S. Constitution (treason).

Short of that, however, I say have fun boys and girls with the amazing rights this wonderful land affords you.
