Stand Up for America Rally, Spokane, WA Update

Posted on 03/08/2003 5:34:40 PM PST by waRNmother.armyboots

Theme: Stand Up for America Date/Time: Saturday, March 22nd at 1pm Place: Franklin Park on Division across from Northtown Mall or Franklin Park Mall.

Joel has turned in the permit request to Parks and Recreation. Joel will take care of the permitting process including insurance if required.

Jerry has agreed to take care of the media press releases and some flyers.

Dan has made some flyers, but I am still awaiting a list of items for the troops from Mary Helen to finalize the black and white flyers before producing them.

Mary Helen is (1)putting together information on care packages for the troops and (2)contacting rental places for several tents and (3)business for donations of poster board and markers, and (4) notifying Fairchild spouses of the rally.

Joel and John are working on speakers.

Pat is contacting George Nethercutt's office. (Joe has already contacted Congressman Nethercutt's office and Nancy said he will not be in town, but we are hoping Pat has some pull).

Jan(me) has used the $496 you so generously gave me to reimburse me for the insurance and costs of the March 1 rally to purchase 500 US flags (Made in America, of course!!!)

John is obtaining a flatbed that we can use as a platform and has already contacted the Blood Bank for the Bloodmobile to be there and is talking with Marriott regarding providing refreshments.

Jan will take flyers to Boy Scout Roundtable for distribution.

How you can help?

Joe can you contact the VFW, American Legion and ROTC?

Someone to contact Girl Scouts

Someone to help Mary Helen with contacting local business such as Office Depot, Staples, Michaels etc for poster board.

Someone to help distribute flyers to local businesses and organizations once they are printed next week.

Someone with contacts with firefighters, police, sheriff dept so we can notify them about the rally.

Someone with contacts with local reserve or national guard units to notify them of the rally.

Someone who knows a veteran who is a good speaker who might be willing to speak at the rally.

Someone who knows a pastor, minister, priest, etc who would be willing to offer a prayer at the rally.

Someone with a sound system we could use.

Someone who could help build a backdrop for the stage on the flatbed.

Someone who would be willing to contact local T shirt silk screening shops and see if they would be willing to sell patriotic T shirts at the event at their own expense. In other words, we do not buy the T shirts from them. They have their own booth to sell the T shirts.

Someone with a business or someone willing to contact businesses or organizations to see if we can use their copier to make black and white flyers and signs for the rally.

If you are willing to do any of these things, please email me. Thanks. Jan

Contact your state's vet commissioner too.

Thank you for listing this...I'm going to try and do a rally in Millington, TN...TOTALLY INEXPERIENCED. With your list I've a guide line for what will be needed.

I'm impressed with the list you've compiled and the organization in place already for your rally. Good luck -- you're on a roll and can't help but have a great rally to support our troops! FReep On!
