Every Freeper Must See the New movie 'Tears of the Sun?'
I saw it on opening night in Portland.
I swear, at least 75% of the audience was crying. I mean they were really crying out loud during the film. I cannot explain the circumstances, because it will give away the plot.
Bravo ! Bravo !
IMHO -- Bruce Willis deserves the Academy Award for this movie.
The message of this film is very clear:
It is about Muslims in Africa torturing, raping, brutalizing and murdering Christians.
May we pray that the winners of Academy Awards speak out, this year, with a clear voice against Muslim Fanatic Oppresion !
[Hint 'Tears of the Sun' means the same in English with a different spelling of tne final, and determinative object of the sentence].
TOPICS: Announcements; Crime/Corruption; Culture/Society; Foreign Affairs; Government

Saw it yesterday. I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. It is unabashedly pro-America and even provides a quote at the end by Edmund Burke!
The reviewer in The Oregonian didn't like it. Too pro-America, pro-military for him. It shows clearly the horrors that have taken place in Africa as one tribe or militia slaughters unarmed civilians. This is a story the press doesn't want to report as it does tend to make the native Africans look bad, but unfortunately for the multi-culturalists, it is the truth.
Willis is a hero to me. Antoine Fuqua (the director) deserves a award for sheer guts in bucking the Hollywood politically-correct crowd.

Hopefully, the darkness in the theater will provide enough cover if my manly manliness lets me down...

The film critic is lost in Hollywood. He does not even have a clue. He is lost in
Battle
Scenes and Bovine Squat. .... The film is also about the very essence of slavery. But that is too intensely philosophical for most people to grasp.
The film is great. Truly great.
Bet you a green buck you will find you are crying.

Of course, all I've seen are bad reviews.

Roger Ebert, of all people, gave it 3 stars out of 4. He thought the ending was a little too much a routine shoot-em-up. (That means I'd probably like it.) I have to give Ebert credit for saying in his review that the term "civil war" in Africa is a polite way of saying "genocide".

I saw it today. Willis doesn't deserve an Oscar, but he was good and the movie was pretty good, maudlin at some points tho. And I don't think a SEAL would decide as quickly as Willis' character did to turn back, that was not believeable. But you really wanted to see the thugs get what they got in the end.
Four stars...the lefty critic at the Detroit News ripped it apart in the usual smarmy dishonest fashion. Completely ignored the depiction of atrocities, as if they didn't happen because the movie shows soldiers in a good light. A-hole.

I liked the idea of the movie, but they forgot the plot, unless "run through the jungle" is a plot.
There is so much that could have been done with and said about the genocides in Africa.
Too bad the writers didn't make use of the opportunity.

I haven't seen the movie but can guess what you are referring to.
There's an ancient English pun on sun and Son, which goes back to the middle ages and the Renaissance. Its original source is a prophetic phrase pointing to the Messiah in Malachi 4:2:
"The Sun of righteousness [shall] arise with healing in his wings."

Out lefty critics are all @ssholes.
They are too, too utterly dense to realize what the crystalizing essence of a film really and truly might be.
The all deserve to simply lie down in the barren earth with their g-dless lack of genine understanding forever ...

Saw the movie yesterday with the family!
Great theme, lot's of action, very symbolic and patriotic....
Muslims vs. Christians, lot's of symbolism...Evil=Muslim....Good guys=Christian
I won't give away the plot but I don't think Bruce Willis will get much work in Hollywierd after this one...

Thanks for the recommendation.
I will tell you one NOT to see "City of God". Awful, awful, awful, brutal, disgusting. It was not my choice to see this last night, I am sorry I didn't protest. Even if it should get Best Foreign Film awards, don't go see it.

It is a really fine film that tells a great without ever pandering to the audience.
Be warned, however, that it's a 7 or 8 Kleenex special. Both sleeves of my shirt were soaked with my tears by the end of the film.
