Right, this is a repetition of Hitler's antics at Gleiwitz and the Battle of the Bulge. I thought Saddam imitated Stalin.

Iraq Giving Own Forces Western Uniforms in Ploy-US
Thu March 6, 2003 04:42 PM ET WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Iraq's President Saddam Hussein has ordered uniforms resembling those worn by U.S. and British troops and will issue them to para-military fighters who would attack Iraqi civilians and blame it on Western forces, the U.S. Central Command charged on Thursday.
A senior command official said in a statement that U.S. intelligence had obtained the information, but refused to say how such intelligence was gathered or provide any details.
The accusation was another in a series of allegations that have been made by Washington in a war of words with Saddam as tension grows ahead of a possible U.S.-led invasion of Iraq to rid that country of alleged chemical and biological weapons.
The Pentagon has also charged that Saddam is putting military targets near civilian sites, planning a "scorched earth" policy of setting fire to oil fields, and destroying power plants and food stocks in any conflict, then blaming that on the United States.

Instant hanging if captured in a phony Allied uniform. Easy way to test this, make them eat a strip of bacon.

U.S.: Iraqis To Commit Atrocities Disguised as American Soldiers
Thursday March 06, 2003 4:40pmWashington (AP) - Iraq is acquiring military uniforms "identical down to the last detail" to those worn by American and British forces and plans to use them to shift blame for atrocities, a senior U.S. official said Thursday.
Jim Wilkinson, director of strategic communication at Central Command in Tampa, Fla., said Saddam Hussein had ordered procurement of the uniforms, but he would not say how this was known.
"Saddam intends to issue these uniforms to Fedayeen Saddam troops who would wear them when conducting reprisals against the Iraqi people so that they could pass the atrocities off as the work of the United States and the United Kingdom," Wilkinson said.
The Fedayeen Saddam is a paramilitary force of more than 15,000 founded by Saddam's son Odai in 1994, Wilkinson said. The unit's members are recruited from areas noted for loyalty to Saddam.
The Fedayeen Saddam carries out patrols and anti-smuggling duties and is separate from the regular Iraqi Army command, Wilkinson said. He said its members are paid a salary and, while not an elite fighting force, they deal with unrest during domestic emergencies and report directly to Saddam.
"Saddam Hussein is clearly getting ready to wage a campaign of fear and disinformation against those who seek to disarm him," Wilkinson said, referring to the U.S. and British forces who would spearhead an invasion.
Efforts to blame U.S. and British invading forces for atrocities committed by Iraqi troops is among the ploys Bush administration officials have predicted for weeks. Wilkinson's statement is the first public mention of a plan by Saddam to outfit his troops in fake uniforms.
This is among many acts of deception and desperation that Pentagon officials say they fear Saddam will carry out in an attempt to turn international opinion against the United States and Britain.
Other acts suggested by U.S. officials include setting Iraqi oil fields ablaze and using chemical or biological weapons against the Iraqi people.
Officials said Bush has not yet decided whether to go to war against Iraq, but there are a growing number of signs that the U.S. military is nearly ready to launch any attack he may order.
The Navy, for example, said the hospital ship USNS Comfort has moved from the Indian Ocean island of Diego Garcia to Bahrain. And the last of the ship's 800 additional medical staff members were flying there Thursday. The last time it was deployed to the Gulf was the 1991 Gulf War.

I don't know whether or NOT SH can do this but I do KNOW that he is capable of trying it. My point......! This very threat is but just ONE SMALL reason why the diplomatic route taken by GW was a mistake from the beginning. 12 years was enough time for SH to disarm and abide by the ARTICLES of SURRENDER.
His refusal to do so and his bannishment of the inspectors in '98 gave us the LEGAL right to RESUME HOSTILITIES IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER!!

According to FOX, Sadaam plans to KILL HIS OWN PEOPLE (committing atrocities) and then blame it on the US/UK.
This would preclude, that he would then HANG publically, those people in US/UK uniforms.
Cute trick - won't work!!

Our guys have stuff sewn into their uniforms and special tags that identify them as "friendlies". The problem won't be our guys recognizing each other. The problem will be when Saddam's phonies commit atrocities, convincing CNN and Reuters it wasn't us.

There's a very easy solution to this sort of quandry. Just make it standard issue for the jackets of all fighting men to read (on the front and back, in Farsi) "A CURSE UPON SADDAM'S MOUSTACHE!"
Any Iraqi participating in the ruse would be executed for treason before we even got there. Problem solved.

It would work if he then killed those in US/UK uniforms, claiming that the civilians rose up and killed the infidels with their own bare hands.
