STATEMENT FROM [NEW YORK STATE REPUBLICAN] CHAIRMAN [SANDY] TREADWELL
What happened today is an outrage to every American, particularly Hispanic Americans, who have watched a perfectly qualified judicial nominee be denied a confirmation vote for partisan political reasons. What Senator Chuck Schumer did leading the fight against Miguel Estrada was wrong and appalling and he should be held accountable."
"I am going to ask Miguel Estrada to return home to New York and run against Chuck Schumer for the United States Senate.

Senator Estrada?I'd rather have Associate Justice Estrada.
To: SpringheelJack
Exactly. It's time to change the Senate Rules, on the fly if necessary, in order to comply to the Constitution.

particularly Hispanic AmericansMakes it sort of difficult for the conservatives to continue the drumbeat of "class warfare" when describing liberals.

This is not a case of what the Democrats did to Estrada. It is a case of the Republicans in the Senate playing by Softball rules and snatching DEFEAT from the Jaws of Victory.
The Republicans are totally to blame if they allow the Democrats kill the Estrada nomination. President Bush is to Blame if he allows the Republicans to be so totally spineless!
Threatening to run against either of the two shameless Senators of NY is a Skam to sell to Republicans so that they still keep giving the Spineless GOP money inspite of their terrible performance. Are all the Republican Senators FRENCH???? Or do they just act like they are?

There are other qualified Hispanics and we don't know for sure how conservative Estrada is. If he could beat Schumer I would definately encourage him to run, but he might not be much of a politicion. I've yet to see any evidence that Estrada could win a Senate seat in New York. I do know that he has the votes to win confirmation as a federal judge. Beating the filibuster is more important than beating Schumer.

Senator Estrada?
I'd rather have Associate Justice Estrada. I cannot agree more! If all those liberal judges are going the legislate from the bench, we need Miguel Estrada on the bench...along with Charles Pickering and Pricilla Owens.
There are plenty good candidates out there, if looked for properly in the right places, to be good, conservative Republican Senators, but people like Miguel Estrada are rare and his qualifications, talents, and (I believe) his calling is to be a judge...Court of Appeals first, then ultimately the Supreme Court! Period!

The Key to stopping the slide of the Republic into a social morass run by democrats in perpetuity is the appointing of constitutional judges and ridding the republic of activist (socialist) ones...
The dems know this and we know they know it...we are in a fight for the soul of the nation..
Arrogant Judges making law with no regard to due process...or the will of we the people..
or even the constitution of the United States..is against the law...so why arent they being arrested? Or their laws & judical pronouncements ignored by justice & law enforcement?
Only congress has the right to pass laws...dems dont seem to understand this process..judges dont seem to care.....

The Demcrats target is not Estrada, but destoying Justice in America. Here they are trying to destroy Attorney-Client privlege (the solicitor generals offics is the Client here) by trying invade Justice Department and destroy it.
Time you folks realize the target of the Democrats; it is the destruction of our constitution and our Justice system.

Estrada had met up with his own personal Glass Ceiling, in the minds of the Democratic Senators.Won't they be surprised if he walks in to join them as a colleague??
It's ironic that Kerry gave a speech almost exactly 1 year ago, in which he said "Republicans ...use that term..["values"] as code for excluding some Americans from their rights and opportunities."
It's obvious now that Kerry was describing the plans of the Democrat Senators for Estrada.

Threatening to run against either of the two shameless Senators of NY is a SkamActually, I like to think of Schumer being confronted with the thought of having Estrada as an opponent. I imagine him going batty, as he tries to decide whether he should approve Estrada for the court position, so that he can more easily keep his own seat in the Senate.

Sorry to say, no way he could beat Schumer. Most of the "hispanic" voters in NYC are puerto rican, they will stay with the Dems regardless of this.

Your "Two-Party Cartel" has spoken again & the conservatives again were the ones that caved. Please follow this & on almost every major issue the "Cartel" finds the way to give liberalism the win. Wake up FReepers, you have been had by your so-called conservative party. BTW if there were 80 senators with a (R) by their name they would still find an excuse to not go conservative.
