"I don't know... but Bush usually doesn't ask for network time unless its very important... He usually lets them decide if they want to carry him or not..."
Of course CBS will pre-empt his speech with a replay of Sadamn's interview with Dan "I'm a traitor" Rat her". </barfing anti-b*st*rd sarcasm off

Just joking round a bit, as GWB seems to be a man in the mold of Ronaldus Magnus himself. Ever hear of the "launced missiles" story?

SCHWARZKOPF: WAR SWIFT AND SHORT: Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf joined "Countdown: Iraq" Monday and said he believed a war would be swift and short

"Imagine a couple of satelite photos of that "gotcha" on everyone's desks at the UN."I would hope that each of these photos would be labelled "BEFORE"; and accompanied by a second photo of a large crater labelled "AFTER".

Good point. I believe there has been an attempt to provoke Saddam into doing something militarily... force Saddam to believe it is inevitable anyway... then Saddam "throws the first punch"...

Maybe this, the details today about the "shock and awe" (something like that?) and also Drudge's announcement that Bush is making THE decision tonight is all meant to scare the heck out of Saddam? Try to get him to leave in exile? Sadaam will not leave under his own power. Yes, he has plenty of money salted away in various countries, but it's not about money -- it's about POWER.
Sadaam, for the past several decades, has been in the position where he could kill anybody in Iraq who he felt like, and have any woman he felt like dragged to his bed to do with as he pleased. He's a certified psychopath. He would not last a week in any place of exile where he would have to behave like a civilized human. He can't do it. He knows it. He's going to stay until he dies, however that happens

**Bush might give Saddam a very short time period to disarm completely, perhaps as little as 72 hours, before military action**
Sort of a "Look you maggot, I'm giving you 48 hours to cough it up and cough it all up quick!"
Well, I suppose it could be.

**I think Powell will give the definitive speech tomorrow at the UN**
I thought that is Friday the 7th?

Amazing the change in Schwartzkopf. I heard on the radio today that the US is trying to 'scare' the Iraqi Generals by warning them that in the first few days of the war, they won't know what hit 'em.

they won't know what hit 'em.
Hopefully Rin, they don't say that about our troops when we reach Bagdad ;(
To: prairiebreeze
I think it's Friday, not tomorrow.
But it could have changed if we decided to tell them tomorrow-- they have one week to have all their CRAP out of the building, we are converting the UN HQ to a weapons building facility.

No, He was talking to some former diplomat, WHO KNEW about the request, but didn't mention it, it was very much like he was tipping something, and he got right away from it

"A top White House source offered few details, but did reveal the president would make a "defining decision" by morning."
...then we need to be praying for the president tonight!
