"Ummm....Washington was in
Glory, Senator"

funny... and not far off the mark, I am convinced.

Well if this one flops, there might not be a three. It'll be interesting to follow.

went to see it with my son, a friend and his 2 sons.
one of the kid's comments was the last 30 mins were not needed.
I kind of think they may have been better off with 2 movies
1. Up until the end of Fredricksburg it was 1 movie.
2. Maybe another movie ending with Jackson dying.
It was a bit of a mess.
Still, I am glad I saw it and will buy the DVD.
Regarding the religiosity of all the characters, I think Osama & the other guys would have gotten it. For a lot of 21st century Americans, it might have well been in blank verse.
I also wonder whether Ted was saying look at what the certainty of religon allows you to do.

We saw it at the 1:00 show this afternoon and definitely recommend that you take the older kids. Very EDUCATIONAL, religious, sad, and emotional. See it early in the day because of the length. The man who played Stonewall Jackson deserves an award.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Sorry, I don't support movies that have a Klansman like Robert Byrd in it.

The problem is that it is only being shown in select theaters. I have wanted and tried to get to it but the
closest theater is 150 miles away. By the time I get there,
view the movie (almost 4 hours) it will be too late to drive
back and will have to stay in a motel. So I just have to wait. Can't go on weekends, cause I have to work. The movie
needs wider distribution.

I loved Gettysburg and enjoyed G & G for the reasons you stated. I am going to see it again today in case my local theatre cannot show it next week.. We saw it today, and Stonewall Jackson made an impression on me. Here are a few follow- up facts:
Mary Anna Morrison Jackson, Stonewall's widow, never remarried. She was known as the "Widow of the Confederacy" and lived until 1915.
Julia Jackson, Stonewall's daughter, was less than one year old when her father died. She married William E. Christian in 1885; she died of typhoid fever in 1889, at age 26.
Her children were Julia Jackson Christian (1887-1991), who married Edmund R. Preston; and Thomas Jonathan Jackson Christian (1888-1952), who married three times.
Both of Jackson's grandchildren had several children; thus there are many living descendants of Stonewall Jackson.

Sorry, I don't support movies that have a Klansman like Robert Byrd in it. If you blink, you won't even see him. My husband and mother didn't see him.
It's a educational movie worth taking the older kids to, in this day of non-education.

I would not support anything by Ted Turner, if you and everybody on FreeRepublic told me Jesus Himself appeared in it along with all the apostles, and my departed saintly grandpa...
I despise him. I hate all he touches. I feel defiled just posting about it anymore... glad you enjoyed it.
Ted Turner is filth...
To: Tacis
I don't think anyone got your reference!
I took my boys to see the movie this weekend. I thought is was terrible.
