SAN DIEGO DETECTIVE AIDS IN LACI PETERSON CASE

(03-04-2003) - A private investigator from San Diego made an unusual discovery in Northern California that just might help police in their search for missing Modesto woman, Laci Peterson.

Bill Garcia spotted a chunk of cement by a waterway near Modesto.

“It was interesting because it was the only patch of cement we saw in about 20, 30 miles stretch. And there was a tire track through it,” said Garcia.

Last week, the couple who sold a boat to Laci's husband Scott, said cement residue in the boat wasn't there when they owned it.

Regardless of who might be responsible, Garcia, along with the help of a private field engineer, have made it their mission to find Laci, with no guidance from Modesto Police of Laci’s family.

“Her family needs to know what happened,” said Garcia. “Whether she’s out there and someone’s holding her or whether she’s no longer with us, and we bring her home, or we help in bringing her home.”

Recently, Garcia helped in the search for Danielle van Dam, and also tracked down Phillip Salcedo, the armored car driver accused of stealing money in January.

"Suppose someone dumped, or lost, a half-filled bag of cement powder, on a damp canal bank. Then suppose something, such as vehicle tires, ran over the pile of cement powder, pressing it into the damp bank. Could that result in a patch of concrete, as the mush of water and cement powder mixed?

Cement (lime & clay) can harden if moistened, but if they found hardened concrete material with tire tracks, I would assume it was wet, and not fully "set" when it was run over. I doubt dry cementitious powder would hold an imprint if it was wetted after being driven over or stepped on (I can be wrong!). Lime gives off heat when mixed with water and if the powder is not contained (ie: loose on the ground), the heat could cause some expansion of the material. There isn't much details as to the thickness of the hardened material that was found unless it is mentioned in the new article/post you mentioned. Is there a keyword or link to the new article? Thanks.

Re my post #234 to DA. Well, gang, guess my days are numbered here. I stated in that post that MPD had always treated this case as a homocide, not a missing person. Latest thread today states that MPD has reclassified this to a homocide. In my own defense, haven't I heard repeatedly on TV and read articles that they (MPD) have always treated this as a homocide? I need some help here, I'm dying.

No biggie. I have been watching lots of cable discussions about this case, and I know many of the commentators have long been saying things such as, "Well, it's obvious the police are treating this as a homicide investigation, because, etc."

The police made this big announcement today. But they aren't so dumb that they haven't known since the first few days that this was a dire situation. I mean, come on. Who but the deluded Jackie Peterson would think that a lady who had hoped for a baby for years, would suddenly drop out of sight of EVERY friend and loved one she'd had for years, only 1-2 months before she knew she'd be needing medical attention to safely bring this longed-for baby into the world?

At first, no one wanted to say it. (Except a few internet idiots who go around from forum to forum trying to "shock" everyone.) No one wanted to be so indelicate as to say, "She's dead. Decomposing somewhere. Gone." Because we all know the family members are out there, and why would we want to increase their pain? Things said on the internet spread like wildfire among even non-computerized people.

But the police have to deal in reality only.

And you don't think they got those extensive search warrants by saying to a judge, "We've got a really important MISSING PERSON case here, judge"?

So I think you've been right. I think they just made this public announcement to try to get as many people as possible to face reality, as they themselves already have.

Unfortunately, nothing seems to be able to penetrate all the way into the twilight of Scott's poor mother's mind.

Oh come on, you are just reaping what you ..... I haven't seen anyone else, other than outright trolls(and I am not calling you a troll) pushing the limits.

I've been so busy, haven't been able to post as I much as I did, but I read, and from my perspective, I find you intelligent, but looking every which way for each member's button to push. So drop the "Who, moi?" facade. You enjoy arguing, debating just for the art of it, again, just my opinion.

That said, I don't find that type of "sport" entertaining, have chosen to not respond to your missives when I was more active and now, when my time is limited, these trivial challenges of yours take up valuable time. Some of us work, come here to be brought up to speed on this case--remember ...Laci Peterson? I heard today her case was upgraded to murder, and I'm still wading through your "rants" about who has the problem.

Everyone can't be out of step but you, think about it. And Please don't bring up a treasure trove of love notes to prove who loves ya baby, cause you are having a problem with communication with some here, but I am certain it is only because you want it that way. I know you have a sense of humor, as you have shown it on previous occasions, only rarely.

Thanks, DA, I appreciate that. There is no doubt in my mind that they have been treating this as a homocide. (I'm thinking of the bay dragging here; you don't immediately go drag bays for missing persons unless perhaps that person had been seen wandering around that location--depressed). It seems to me that treating it as a homocide had come from none other than some spokesperson at MPD, but I could be wrong about that. Perhaps the problem here is language. They may have on their documentation classified her as a missing person, but verbally they were saying that they were treating it as a homocide. Today, they may have simply changed that classification, and a $50k award for location of her body has been announced versus the $500k from the foundation for her safe return.

To which post do you refer, sir?

Since you did not copy/paste a relevant excerpt from my post I have no frame of reference by which to reply to your rant. :-)

They can do all these things and more. They appear to have done most of them. So why haven't they come out publicly and said they are no longer interested in Scott? They have already said that they exclude Amber Frey as a suspect. She had motive, too. What's taking so long about Scott?

Well, we're all pretty sure Scott is guilty. I know I am.

I just have yet to hear any information that would cause me to vote him guilty if I was on a jury.

I am also willing to bet that about half what we have heard is garbage. Idle rumor.

I still think he did it. The dots just aren't connecting yet for me.
