What To Do With Khalid Shaikh Mohammed

It's not a question of whether we should kill him, it's whether we should torture him first.

I'm talking about Khalid Shaikh Mohammed.

The "mastermind" of Al Qaeda, the guy who came up with September 11.

The guy who helped bomb the World Trade Center in 1993.

And who wanted to blow up 11 U.S. jetliners and crash another one into the CIA headquarters. The guy who blew up our embassies in Africa and who attacked the USS Cole and who killed Daniel Pearl and blew up that Tunisian synagogue.

That guy.

We all know how his story is going to end. He will die at the whim of the United States government.

The question is: What do we do with him until then?

Should we hook the generator to his testicles and let it rip? Do we put him in thumb screws? Do we turn him over to his countrymen and let them use their magic on him? Do we beat him with rubber hoses?

In short, do we treat him the way he has treated us? Short answer: Not exactly.

Long answer: Physical torture is not the American way, but using any means necessary to get information from a man who may know about looming terrorist attacks is the wisest and only course of action.

Because right now the issue isn't punishing Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, it is pumping him dry. By hook or by crook, every retrievable bit of useful information must be pulled from him. American lives are at stake and they are all that counts.

Presumably, he is not going to eagerly cooperate.

Presumably, he has contemplated his eventual capture for years. Presumably, he has steeled himself against the pressure of interrogation.

But presumably he's no match for the CIA.

Again, nobody is recommending or condoning physical torture. But physical discomfort along with disorientation and psychological torture and manipulation, even the use of drugs, are all things that should be considered and used. Put another way, we should screw with his head big time. We should befriend him, threaten him, confuse him, deceive him, whatever we need to to turn him to our purposes.

We should remember that he is a tool, not only in our own defense, but in the attack against his people and fellow-believers. Theirs is a war of slaughter and terror, they seek to create fear as well as mayhem. So we should use him to cause as much fear among them as possible.

And, no, he doesn't get a lawyer.

Not for a long time.

And when he does, that lawyer should wear an American military uniform. This fellow is why they have military tribunals.

And cemeteries.

We use him for everything he's worth, we exploit his name, face and mind, and then we throw him away. We make him an example for those who would follow him. This man -- as a college student in the United States -- knows all about the hospitality of our country. Now it is time for him to learn of our might. And our resolve.

He is not an accused American criminal, he is an apprehended enemy combatant. Actually, he is less than that. He does not represent an organization or state that signed the Geneva Conventions, he has no protections under international law.

He is, technically, screwed. And nobody should realize that more than he.

We all know what's going to happen. Now it's just a question of whether it's the easy way or the hard way.

I say put him on a healthy diet- "kill em with kindness'...

Pork Skins...a great low carbohydrate snack! Pork skins and pork rinds are cooked from our own recipes in flavors such as BBQ and Salt & Vinegar.

1. "Pork Rinds" are puffed skins that are light and flaky, a favorite low carbohydrate snack.

2. "Cracklings" are a smaller crisp and crunchy pork skin snack.

3. "Fat Back" is a crunchy fried pork skin with some fat left attached.

4. "Wash Pot Skins" are a large and somewhat crunchy pork skin snack with low sodium and 0% carbohydrates.
