I saw on FoxNews yesterday a IHOP commercial for a special offer on French Toast, I thought it might be fun to Freep them for a name change to Freedom Toast, the same way some burger joints are changing the name of French Fries to Freedom Fries ihop contacts

I dunno ... soft and filled with something that looks like it came out of a sick chicken.... topped off as a little fruity to boot.

Definitely French in my book.

I don't have a problem with it. As far as I'm concerned, the French ARE toast.

How about calling it 'French Surrender Toast'. Serve it with a little white flag on it. Squeeze it and it surrenders it's cheese.

Awhile back someone suggested "Lay down in the pan and surrender toast". I like that much better. It's a little long, but as Americans we have very long memories for certain things. Much longer than our French "allies"

Ok......this pretty much borders on the ridiculous!

This would be akin to Freeping Burger King...and insisting that they rename the Whopper....A Boastful, Yet, Under Average Burger.

Of course this doesn't apply to moi'.

Dear Mr. Murray:

Thank you for taking the time to contact IHOP with your comments. We do not intend to send any political message with our commercials, rather we are simply inviting guests in for a great new product that has been in development for months. French Toast has existed for hundreds of years and while the origin is debated, our understanding is that it was invented near Albany, New York by Joseph French, thus the name. All of the ingredients used in preparation are purchased from American companies if that helps to alleviate any of your concerns. We do appreciate your concerns and thank you for sharing them.

Sincerely,

Patrick Lenow
Director, Public Relations
