The Free Republic Chapter of Los Angeles (also known as The Hollywood Resistance Force) along with a coalition of other conservative organizations held a "Support Our Troops" rally in Los Angeles this afternoon.
The LA Chapter of FR with the Liberty Belles, FitAimAct, College Republicans and BOND met early this morning downtown for our rally, listened to great speeches from the likes of Ted Hayes, of FITAIMACT and Dome Village, Jesse Lee Peterson of BOND, Joe Lauria of the Liberty Belles and FR's own RON DOG.
After the speeches were given we began our march around downtown. A large group of people carring giant American Flags, Bush/Cheney signs, Support Our Troops signs, and the compulsory "France Should Be Ashamed" signs, desended upon the LA MARATHON. As we marched we chanted "Liberate Iraq!" and other marching slogans.
****WE ACTUALLY MARCHED IN THE MARATHON ALMOST TO THE FINISH LINE**** We heard cries of support, thumbs up and many thanks from the LA Police force! (One of them leaned over and said to the person marching next to me 'I am so gald to see you guys here!') When we finished our march, we had interviews with KABC, channel 7 (we have already been on TV) and several other media outlets, I couldn't keep them all straight. If anyone else knows please post them.
When we were finished, marched back along the streets to horns honking and thumbs and returned to our original location.
I'll let eveyone else who was there come in and post their comments. Today's rally was a great success and ai think the key was joining up with other organizations in the area to combine forces and make an impact.
Thanks to the hard work by everyone involved!! Thanks Everyone!

Salute to you and all patriots in attendance!
(Bet you guys didn't have a patriotic snowman like we had in DC. Oh well, you can try that next time you have snow in LA . . .about 50 years?)
Great job!

Along with about 15,000 bikers, this FReeper finished the bike tour portion of the LA Marathon in 87 minutes on 4 wheel inline skates. There were about 10 skaters and only 2 on 4 wheel skates. The 23+ mile course had a lot more hills this year and it was quite a bit windier than last year as well. Sorry I missed the rally, but as you might imagine, I was a little spent with the conditions and the 6am start.

Is it OK for me to be insanely jealous if I'm still happy for them? Sigh. I can't even IMAGINE being with 50,000 conservatives together. That's so wonderful.

I'll be watching for you on the news tonight.
Perhaps if we all make it seem cool again, like the week after 9-11, to be a patriot, the media will catch on. Of course, you know, we'll have to work hard at keeping it sensational.

On Saturday, March 1, 2003. It was a gorgeous day! The sun was out, no clouds anywhere and temperatures reached the mid 50's. A great day to hold a pro-military rally for our troops. Two were held in Seattle. I happened to go by the one that was held at Husky Stadium where, according to a liberal radio station, the University of Washington Republicans were going to stage a rally for our troops, and that the number in the UW Republicans was around 800, and that they expected a HUGE crowd to show up in support of our troops. Well, I passed by Husky Stadium when the peak of rally participants should have been at it's peak only to find that there were only 8-12 demonstrators for our troops there. I was so disappointed. I guess seattle has become more liberal than I thought. Even the UW republicans didn't bother to show up en masse, only a handful. Bellevue, a city just across the lake from seattle had a larger gathering than seattle, and it's much smaller in population than seattle, although they do have more conservatives.
The other pro-troop rally in downtown seattle had even less people from what I heard. There was no news coverage either on the news that I saw. If anybody in seattle knows the actual numbers, please let me and FR know. I may have passed by to early or too late.
My city didn't hold one at all!! Maybe I should go out there in Seattle and hold up a French (white) flag with the words, Seattle gives up to Saddam Hussein on it to see what kind of reaction I get. I will probably get a lot of approving honks by drivers as they pass by. I feel so ashamed of my state I feel like moving out.

Congrats from Northern Calif!!!
The 'Support R Troops' theme will stifle the 'No Blood for Oil' propaganda as it well should. You stated it well-the key was organization and getting other groups involved.
Don't let up-the media will be forced to cover it as the movement has a power unto itself. It is spreading across the U.S and overseas as well. Don't stop now!
How about a NATIONAL DAY OF SUPPORT for our TROOPS? That would be the ultimate Rally Round the Flag!
