AZ: Rural People to Protest
Environmental Disaster
and Forest Policies

Paragon Foundation
Organizers predict that between Five and fifty thousand people will attend the rally.

Heber/Overgaard, AZ are planning to bring rural people together to protest national forest policies, and the disastrous effect those laws have had on our country¹s natural resources, endangered species habitat and the economy.

They will meet at the Wesley Bolin Plaza in Phoenix on Monday, March 24, 2003. The event will start with a rally at 9 through 11a.m. While people fill the plaza, there will be a band and leaders of many communities and our legislative representatives will be invited to help educate the public and media about the true condition of Arizona¹s forests and how they came to their currently devastated condition.

The main event will begin at 11 to 11:45 a.m. While Lewis Tenney of Heber, will serve as master of ceremonies, people such as House Speaker Jake Flake, Senate Majority Whip Marilyn Jarrett, and others will speak on behalf of the rural people of Arizona and their demand for action to respond to federal mismanagement of our natural resources.

Rural people are gathering at the capitol because they want the public to know that they are concerned not only about their businesses, their futures and their home town heritage, but because they may be looking the end of rural America as we know it.

says. "If we have another big fire this summer or if the environMENTALists have their way with forest policies and we loose our ranching and tourism industries, then what happens next is real estate falls and if real estate falls, then construction falls and if construction falls then our state's manufacturing falls and when manufacturing falls then retail falls and if the state thinks that they are having a hard time with their budget this year, they ain¹t seen nothin' yet! We could be looking a situation that could mean total economic collapse for the state and even the country. There are solutions to our problems and we want to be part of the process to bring the forests back to health and that¹s why we say, "Healthy Forest, Healthy Future."

The event intends to show the world what current environmental policies have resulted in and that environmental groups are not truly interested in saving endangered species but rather, the environmental movement is about money, control and power. "More endangered species habitat has been destroyed than saved in the White Mountains under federal management and environmental extremist meddling through the courts, and we can prove it!" says Dave Holt of Heber/Overgaard, another event planner.

Rural residents who know and love their forests will demand that industries of ranching and logging will be included as a necessary and instrumental part of recovering the health of the forest and our economy. Representatives of those industries will explain to the public why it is very important to use the forests in responsible and healthy ways.

Organizors perdict that five thousand to fifty people will attend the rally.

This event is sponsored Freedom for America League, Citizens and the Mountains, Paragon Foundation, Paragon America and others.

This email came in response to an article about drilling but it says more about all land use, environmental issues, IMO.

It just so happens that Texans in the oil patch love their state and it's beauty just as much as the environmentalist claim to.

Here's a thread from June by freeper RooRoobird14 regarding a visit to the concerned folks at the Sierra Club during the Rodeo/Chediski fires.

Report from Front Lines: Visit to Sierra Club Office
me | 6/25/2002 | me

Posted on 06/25/2002 12:45 PM MDT by RooRoobird14

Hubby just called to report on his visit to the local Sierra Club office in Phoenix.

He had tried calling many times yesterday, and couldn't get through on the phone lines.

Their office front doors were locked--he kept knocking and knocking until they gave up and let him in (LOL). The office window shades were drawn, and they obviously wanted everyone to think they were closed.

The woman who runs the office is one PISSED OFF bull dyke(not making this up). She was extremely angry that he was "bothering" them. She said she was "too busy" and "didn't have time to talk to people like him."

He asked her how many lawyers the Sierra Club employed, and she refused to answer. He asked her what the Sierra Club was doing to help put out the fires and she said "that's none of your business.". He asked her how much federal (taxpayer) grant money the Sierra Club got this year; she said "I don't have to answer that question."

There was a young man in the office who was actually polite and willing to talk to my hysband, but the B.D. was an absolute b*tch.

While hubby was in the office, the B.D. was replaying recorded phone messages left for them by angry callers. Hubby overhead three of the messages. All three were from enraged refugees of the fire who left f-word-peppered messages. One man (said he lost his home in the fire) said he was going to get even with them, he had a gun, and he'd take his time to get even. The BD was taking notes and muttering about filing police reports.

While I don't support anyone threatening violence on the Sierra Club, I can certainly understand how some of the displaced residents could be completely enraged at this point.

Frankly, I'm glad Governor Hull set off a firestorm criticizing enviro-wacko groups and how their lawsuits have paralyzed the Forest Service in general. The dialogue that's ensuing is a good thing.

It seems that the enviroNAZIs have lost their friends in the White House. Maybe we can get some sense back into the thinking. Of course that will include thousands of LAWSUITS! In fact we now have states writing wacky laws(California thinks they can prevent global warming by punishing the residents of our state alone) We now have Demoncrat state govt's suing the federal gov't. It all a field day for lawyers while "Rome" burns

Like the Biscuit Fire which basically burnt up the Kalimiopsis Wilderness Area in SW Oregon last year. The fire was set up by the no roads, no clearing of dead trees and brush and the envirals worship of natural fires.

So 180,000 acres of beautiful wilderness burnt up last year.

A 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel voided hundreds of livestock grazing leases yesterday on the 11 national forests in Arizona and New Mexico.

Where are the folks from Mt. Lemon? I understand that when home owners in parts of the White Mountains realized they "were next", the air was filled with the sound of chain saws in violation of those great EPA no-no's! Go here for a look from NASA

If this doesn't link, someone please get back to me and lets try to figure out why it won't. Thanks

I've never been to Texas. I used to think Texans were outspoken. After seeing how many concerned folks from TX post on the web, compared to other states, I have to say, Texans speak up!

The fires here had a direct impact on many, many people I know. Part of my family had to be evacuated from their home for days. I am not surprised at all at the level of outrage expressed by those angry with the Sierra club.

IIRC the 'mentalists were trying to stop the building of an Observatory. Some junky science about a squirrel that was debunked or something.

And as for your link, forget it, lol. I tried copying to notepad to look for errors and got the FR link. I was thinking of adding "www" to it. I do hope the Mt. Lemon people get news of this protest.

"IIRC the 'mentalists were trying to stop the building of an Observatory. Some junky science about a squirrel that was debunked or something."

Those were the days! The telescopes threatened the Red Squirrel whose very existence they claimed was doomed to extinction; this little fellow has rejoiced and multiplied since the 'scopes' went in. Further down on the mountain are multiple campgrounds and some very nice substantial homes. It was these people, hiker/campers and I believe Earth First who tried with vigor and little intellect to stop the building of these truly magnificent radio/telescopes. A third much larger one is about completed and the Red Squirrel still flourishes.

Glad the link worked.

I now know you were referring to the fire last year on Mt. Lemon. What a crazy time. There were fires from one end of the state to the other.
