Local conservatives are taking a page from the anti-war movement by putting out a television ad supporting American troops and the ouster of Saddam Hussein.
Frustrated by pro-peace commercials featuring the likes of actors Martin Sheen and Susan Sarandon, Seattle talk-radio station KVI-AM (570) ponied up $5,700 and then raised more than $100,000 through a 10-hour radiothon Thursday for the TV-ad campaign.
"The phones exploded," host John Carlson said moments before going on the air yesterday afternoon. "In less than 48 hours, we raised upwards of $118,000. We think we're going to go well beyond that because more than $100,000 of that is well in hand."

Believe me, the "peace" party gets all, absolutely
all the press here in Seattle - you'd think the only people in favor of stopping Saddam were on another planet. These guys are going to be shocked because this time we're yelling back and we're not going to be civil about it.
France and Germany were stunned at that. Floored. Screaming at America has become some sort of primal therapy and it won't stop, so we might just as well do some of it ourselves.

Sees the power... missed the typo
They have already collected more than the pledged amount of $118,000. Over $125,000 has been sent in. Enough to run the add 400 times in the Seattle market.

"Enough to run the add 400 times in the Seattle market." It will be interesting to see IF the local affiliates actually run the ad, and IF they do, at WHAT TIME slot.
Keep us posted...

Hey, I have $50 or $100, if this could go national. Maybe Rush or Savage or somebody could get it going. I would like to see Sadam's gassed children in the street, interviews with emigrees and such. When Iraq is over Ad's about Cuba, North Korea, South America. You think ABC, NBC, CBS would take the revenue?

Amen to that!
I really have a good gut feeling about the conservative movement in this country.
Without trying to sound too cocky, I think that what we are seeing is the liberal/socialist movement in it's death throes. Think about it, if you will.
Everyone just knew that the democRATS were going to retake power in the House and the Senate in this past election. Instead, they got creamed! Their tired and worn out message did indeed get out to the American people and they were soundly rejected. And have they come to figure out where they failed? No they haven't. Rather they have become increasingly shrill and open about their contempt for the Constitution, the rule of law and the will of the people. I love it!
I just hope and pray that the democRATS stay the course. Keep people like Terry McAuliffe, Hitlery and Bill clinton, Jimma Carter, Nancy Pelosi and the rest of that mob out front and in the public eye. Keep telling us how we must have them to play nanny to us. If they can keep it up, we'll have them on scrap heap of history before they know what hit them.

I hate to be a nitpicker, but I don't like the ad. It features a bunch of American voices making the kind of critical comments that are being made about Bush, and then a voice-over says, "This is what the people of Iraq say about Saddam Hussein." It almost seems to suggest a kind of moral equivalency between Bush and Hussein. I don't think it is an effective ad.

I share your feeling. Somehow the unexpected happens right at the right time. I love Tom DeLay going after the Democrats as appeasers yesterday! Everything they do seems to backfire and I agree keep Hillary, Ted Kennedy, and at least four of the dems running for president who are so awful right out in front so the public sees them. They also see Bush, Rice, Cheney and Rumsfeld all the time so the comparison is stark. Maybe it's all to do with prayer.
