You have been a good mother to your son, and it shows.
What made the movie so powerful for us was the display of faith. After we got home, I re-read some passages from various biographies, and the dialogue could have been copied verbatim.
I would say this movie was a gift to us, and I cannot wait to see it again.

I have to admit I was a little bit surprised when he said it. He's 11. He's starting to mature, but you know, those things come in spurts!!! But his remark was one I hope I always remember.
So many people complained about the way people spoke in the movie, but I enjoyed it so much. I have just been reading "The Blue and the Gray" by Commanger and the letters and journals in the book are filled with such dialog.

Gods and Generals is a deeply flawed movie. Even though it portrays some conservative values in a positive light, it is still bad cinema. Poor acting, atrocious editing, etc... made it bad. While left wingers may pan it for political reasons, most objective viewers also find the movie was poorly put together. Yes it is historically accurate for the most part, however, it is supposed to be a drama, not a documentary.

What do Ted Turner, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Tom Daschle, Nancy Pelosi, and Ted Kennedy have in common with the Confederates? All Democrats! Such a comparison lacks merit as a valid argument. I could just as easily ask the following on the same note and do so with factual legitimacy insofar as the relation drawn between the persons being named goes:
What do Karl Marx, James McPherson, and Carl Sandburg have in common? All left wing socialists who adore(d) Abe Lincoln.

No, for you it comes down to being a SIP or a Republican. Now that's an interesting question to ask, especially coming from somebody who regularly associates with and praises WhiskeyPapa, an admitted Clinton, Gore, Dukakis, and Mondale voter and card carrying Democrat who once blamed September 11th on George Bush Sr. But then again, consistency never has been one of your strengths.
