Remember the cult in Japan that tried this?

They were spraying the stuff from rooftops, and the cops came and asked them to stop because people complained about the smell.

Then they drove through town with spray equipment, and made some pets sick..

Finally, in a last ditch effort to actually kill someone, they switched to chemicals and let them off in a subway. That's what it took.

Indeed, these things are much more frightening on paper than they are in real life.

Ummm.... I could call that "realistic". Just take a look at the protesters and the liberals and then tell me that they aren't "as dumb as a box of rocks". In fact I take a box of rocks any day, it's quiet.

No, the problem is that you have to assume EVERYONE (including Freepers and those who would be Freepers if they but knew about FR) in America is really that frickin' stupid.

And you'd also have to presume that known effective public health measures like quarantine would not be used.

The theoretical lethality of a weapons system is equal to X times Lo, where Lo is the real-world lethality and X is a variable that represents "ideal conditions" that never exist in reality, PR hype on the part of the manufacturer, FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) raised by the Usual Suspects in the mass media, and the gullibility of the general public.

I've heard quite a bit here. One person claiming that an attack helicopter was the best way to drop a UAV.

A. In order to properly disperse a bio/chem payload they would be low flying, slow and predictable. A news helicopter could take one out.

B. A successful bio attack from the air requires the proper weather conditions [temp/wind/humidity/dewpoint] and a very good dispersal pattern. Launch runways or vehicles and probably more that I am unaware of.

Cutting lazy eights over a population center shooting video footage and dispersing bio/chem weapons are two completely different things.

Oh yes, they were one of the elite cults also..

Very well funded and full of bright people with good PR and government contacts. This was a professional effort all the way.

I think they were called the "AUM" OR "ALUM" or somethign like that and they were led by a blind "shiek" A search on google for the "Tokyo Subway Attack" should give you a bunch more info about them.

They tried bio-weapons forever, to the point of absurdity.. then switched to sarin gas (I think) for the subway attack and that's finally what did the trick.

The whole close/secure the borders thing is put out there by operatives who wish to disillussion marginal or one issue voters into walking away from the GOP in the next elections.

Yes, seminar posters have become a real nuisance on FR.

Please note that the subway attack is in a near-ideal environment--confined volume, lots of folks...and they still didn't kill very many people, considering how much sarin they deployed.

This is just complete paranoia, what I am seeing here..
It's amazing. I have never been so ashamed of the US.

To be honest, I was wondering why this 'old news' story was being circulated today. There doesn't seem to be any 'new news' in it.

Anyway, it generated an interesting amount of discussion and information. I'm still glad I don't live in a city any more.

I just wish people wouldn't over react to these things.. it bothers me.

I can honestly see a big chunck of Americans begging for a police state just to give them a false sense of security over things like this.

I just think it borders on the shameful at times.

Face it, we all have to die of something.. there's no sense in getting all worked up over some nut with an RC plane when he could do the exact same thing in a pickup truck, ultralight, car, truck, subway, train station, shopping mall, SUV, Semi-truck, tanker car, sailboat or segway..

And if he did, the odds are still against him..

It's embarassing, some of this.

God, how Bush wants his little war!

You're confused. It's Saddam who wants the war. Bush just aims to please him.

Seriously - a lot of plane spotting was WW II related. See Google airplane spotting or airplane identification

I am sorry if what I am about to say offends you. Am I to understand that the terrorists are about to strike the blue zones?. If so, go for it.

Fortunately I live in a red county.

"Even easier - those radio controlled hobbyist planes. Yup, totally workable. "

Say What ? You have to see it to guide it - if it's too small, or you get far enough away from it to be safe, you can't see it either. There are a lot of much easier, much more effective lo-tech ways of doing this.
