[history]
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - As nervous citizens stock up on duct tape and plastic sheeting, insurers are getting questions from customers who want to know how far their policies will go in case of a terrorist attack.
The answer depends on the source -- and the degree -- of the damage.

If my car is damaged in a nuclear attack I expect to be dead and I won't care about insurance coverage.

Yeah. In the event of a nuclear attack, I imagine the insurance coverage will be the last thing on anyone's mind.

My old carburator equiped 70's-80's model pickup won't be affected by an EMP pulse. It may shut the engine down for a second, but all I would have to do is shut the truck off and restart it.
I don't like computer controlled automobiles with black boxes. EMP pulse to the computer chip and the car turns into a 2-ton hunk of junk on wheels.

And a good reason to keep my dad's 1962 Studebaker. It might be worth it to get rid of the Yugos. I had to drive one once, and it was like riding in a shoebox on a roller skate . . . my kids were scared, and we stayed off the main roads!

Chrysler K-carsThere's no reason to lump the K-car in with those others. The K-car was plain and uninspired, but it was neither hideous to look at nor poorly built. The 87 Reliant I drove got me through law school on basically no maintenance. It was indestructible and running well when I traded it in.
