WABI TV reported Friday that the Maine National Guard Family Assistance Center has received about 30 complaints from children of deployed soldiers concerning Principals, Teachers and Guidance Counselors reportedly demeaning the role of their deployed parent. Some children involved are 7 to 9 years of age.
Here is a letter written to a friend of mine from the Maine Army National Guard:
"Thank you for your interest on this most troubling matter. Our Family Assistance Centers have reported cases from Aroostook County to Southern Maine. We are reluctant to give out specific schools and the individuals involved in the interest of giving the education community a chance to address the problem itself. Also, parents wanted the opportunity to pursue the issue through their local school boards first.
In all, we have over thirty complaints that name schools and individual principals, teachers and guidance counselors. If one considers that these complaints come from just the parents who attended our briefings and only from children who told their parents, we are concerned that the problem may be more widespread than we know.
We are recording the complaints, and I will personally visit these educators to express our concern as a professional organization and ask for their cooperation.
Ultimately, our main concern and first responsibility is the safety of our children during these uncertain times. Maine has a core of dedicated and professional educators, but we will challenge any individual who places our children at risk due to their own political ideologies."

The wives can homeschool and I think this has a lot to do with homeschooling. the solution is clear.

Homeschool. If you EVER get wind that your public-schooled children are being subjected to this sort of total crap, yank 'em out of that Indoctrination Center as fast as you can run and homeschool them. That is a quick and easy way out, but then you are running away from the problem. Instead of yanking your child out, the best thing you could do for not only your child but every child in that school is to get those involved yanked out. Your idea is not helping to change anything. I am very blessed where my children attend school and extremely involved at both elementry and middle schools. I am a big advocate of volunteering at your childs school, that way you know what is going on and get to know the teachers, children and other parents. It is a win win situation, and yes I do work outside the home.

I know many families who are in the service. When they get sent to another location, they simply take their studies with them and never miss a beat. Talk about a cool field trip. :)

As a five year mentor myslef, I can tell you it won't change anything. The outcome based "education" they are all using is useless. They have used students as guinea pigs for their Deweyism long enough. It is not "running away" to homeschool. It is a proven advancement.

Put the Maine Teachers' Union on the list with Iraq, Iran, NK, Syria, Venezuela, etc.

Quick? Easy way out?
Let me clue you.
You pat yourself on the back for your "involvement" at your kids' school. Fine. Try this:
Stay home, for YEARS, get up every day and try to teach 4 or 5 kids in different grades......simultaneously. Keep meticulous records. Each child has about 12 textbooks, no matter the grade. Figure out ways to do without lab facilities, etc., and still prepare your kids for college. No sleeping in, no soap operas.........you and the kids......for hours every day.
Try that with seven kids for over 18 years as my wife has (I assist as needed; I'm the one who works outside the home so that she can do this).
TELL me about "easy way out"..............

However, I am suggesting that folks get the story straight before we start lynching people. You're right. I'm sure that the Col is lying through his teeth. We all know how evil our military are. </Sarcasm off>

:) It is so worth it though. LOL, I have not even watched a soap in years nor do I care to any longer. Kid's are wonderful. We only get them for a short while. I am going to enjoy every minute of it too.

Government schools are communist indoctrination camps that parents use as daycare.

It looks like hatered of the military has become insitutionalized. I thought it was peculiar to the VN era. Then Clinton comes along and treats military White House staff as domestics. It is becoming clear that the left idea of a military is a domestic gestopo like a modified BATF who will deal with the kind of people that would oppose them.
