What's really troubling is the news that this is still being discussed and is still in play. It should have been stopped long ago. This could be a more immediate threat to US national security than Iraq is.

Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. and Singapore Technology Telemedia Pte Ltd., had originally bid $750 million on Global. Global turned down that bid in hopes of a higher bidder. None came near that amount. When Global finally came back to Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. and Singapore Technology Telemedia Pte Ltd. they then agreed to pay $250 million -- $125 million each.

Just some background.

I would block this if I had a say. Our infrastructure shouldn't be for sale to others that don't have our personal interests at heart.

This is astonishing.

Really, Could you IMAGINE AT&T owning the working telecommunications system that serves as China's infrastructure??

Meanwhile, Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. now has both ends of the Panama Canal.
