You're splitting hairs here. There's a big difference between having a few drunk neo-Nazi skinheads listening the "oi" music and going bowling, and having them running death camps, don'cha think?

p.s. Sorry to spoil the illusion, if that's what your intent was. I see from some of the replies, that a number of posters believe the signs were carried by the anti-Bush protesters.

Its important to note that none of those forms of GOVERNMENT are a threat to the US, save Communism to a lesser extent. (note also there wasn't a direct war against all communism, as there was against slavery and Nazism, if there had been Castro and Kim Jong Il might be gone as well) Given that in a free society, people can assoicate with any group, no matter that such a group would be EVIL if it held power, eg Slave owners, Nazis, and certainly Communists, but random minorities holding their opinions don't represent a failure on the part of the military to defeat their threat.

War temporarily eradicates EVIL until it rears its ugly head again. Should we give up just because it doesn't end it forever?

The only way this could have been resolved without war would have been if even those nations which object to war bluffed Saddam by saying they'd cooperate to depose him. This would have removed all doubt in his mind that his regime was doomed, and he might have been willing to flee into exile somewhere and order his lieutenants to turn over the keys.

I'm not saying this would have worked, but the protestors have made war certain as opposed to possible or probable.

Tell me when Germany last attacked a neighboring country or killed a Jew for being a Jew. Tell me when the Japanese Empire last did to a foreign city what it did to Nanking. Tell me when you next expect the Taliban to send out thugs to whip women with electrical cords in Afghanistan.

War does not change the human heart. It ends specific threats from particular aggressive forces. It does not put an end to the fundamental evils that beset mankind. It can put an end to Hitler, Tojo, and Mullah Omar.

It can also destroy the power base of evil ideologies. There are to be sure Neo-Nazis in the world, because there are still stupid, evil people in the world. War can't change that. But Nazism no longer has a state and the resources of a state under its control with which to pursue Nazi ends. The reason this is so is that the Allies smashed the Nazi state in Germany into little bits. By war.

To suppose that any fundamental human evil can be fixed by state action is to be a utopian boob. But we can fix Saddam, and that will be enough to be getting on with.

That would be an electric bus run by electricity from the municipal nuke plant.

Right? Or is it a solar-powered bus? Or wind-powered?

A little common sense, please. War HAS defeated those "isms" at various times. Slavery was ended in the US with the Civil War for example. You are the one being ridiculous. To deny that war has ended some of these most henious threats to liberty in various places around the world is to be in complete denial. You might as well say that murderers shouldn't be arrested and jailed since it hasn't stoppped all killing. Evil will always exist in this world. It doesn't mean that you should give up fighting it, otherwise you will be consumed by it.

Read the slogan again. It says "War Has Never Solved Anything".

I think it has been proven conclusively here that that is a ridiculous, and completely incorrect statement.

Oh, I know that those signs were from Pro Bush protesters. I think that they are doing a great job.

My neighborhood has a couple of hippie yuppies. They have NO WAR signs on their homes or trees. I made a couple of I LOVE SADDAM signs and duct taped them to the bottom of their signs.

What can I say, I am a rebel.

Actually, the sign says:

"Except for ending Slavery, Fascism, Nazism and Communism War Has Never Solved Anything"

Not let me ask again...did War END Slavery, Fascism and Communism?

greymaign has a good point. The first time I heard Hannity say something along those lines I cringed. It is a bad talking point. It can be easily refuted. I love the sign, it is good satire, but not accurate. War has crushed some of the most powerful examples of those 'isms', but far from eradicated them.
