Dennis Miller sides with Bush
MSNBC ^ | 2/16/3 | Nauseating Liberal Donahue Ass-Kisser

Posted on 02/19/2003 12:48:42 PM PST by WaveThatFlag

Comedian, actor and author Dennis Miller appeared on the Feb. 12 ‘Donahue’, ready to debate the MSNBC talk show host on the conflict with Iraq, and to voice his support for President George W. Bush. Click below for more. STARTING ON A congenial note, Miller applauded Donahue: “I’ve always wanted to do a television show with you because you’re (Phil) Donahue. So this means something to me.” But then Miller went on to say that “we could probably not be more diametrically opposed.” Miller offered comments on the war and and he took liberals to task for not seeing evil in the world “because they think they sound like Sissy Spaceck’s mother in ‘Carrie’ or something.” Though he is not a warmonger, Miller supported the president. “I don’t want to go to war. I hate war. Like any other right-mined person, I assume that I like war about as much as most people in the pro-choice movement like abortion — which is not at all. But I just think that if we do have to go in, I’m going to leave it to (the president). I concede that I don’t know as much about it as him. And I don’t think it’s wrong, as you say, to agree with him.”. Donahue then disputed Miller’s definition of liberals: “You’re making us to be some sort of wimpy kind of people who think everything is a nice fairy tale.” Donahue also asked Miller: “Do you really believe that killing innocent people is going to make us safer?” Miller shot back: “Do you think that’s our intention? To go seek out the innocent people?” Donahue and Miller also debated the necessity of going to war with Iraq - and Miller claimed not to understand Donahue’s “obstinate pacifism.” Donahue then reminded Miller that he is not a pacifist and was in fact caught punching someone in public. However, the match of wits has just begun. Donahue moves on to discuss Minority Leader Tom Daschle’s indictment that the Bush administration’s terror response is inadequate. Miller is not impressed. “ I’m looking at Daschle and I’m thinking, that’s all he ever wanted was specifics. They give the specifics and then they make fun of the specifics. Yes, you got to put plastic up and some duct tape up if you want to keep the biological stuff out. It’s the same reason I had to get under my desk when the Ruskies had missiles 90 miles off the coast. Yes, these are the day-to-day things that if you want to attempt something — and indeed, some people don’t want to attempt it because they think they’re going to get vaporized it and — but the people who do, if they can go out to Home Depot and buy this stuff, and it makes them feel better, why piss on it?” Miller asks. So what does Miller think about the high-profile actors who are challenging the Bush administration’s wishes for a war vs. Iraq? On Sean Penn: “I think that once it’s about to hit the fan, if you wanted to decry your leadership, you’re more than welcomed to do so in the local town square. I would stay out of the country that you’re about to business with.” On Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins: “Earnest, well informed, and their research and their heart has led them to the position that they take, as mine has, too.” On Martin Sheen: “Martin. That’s how he leads his life. I disagree with him. But, the one time I met him, he was a bloke.” Despite his wide-ranging opinions, Miller does not view himself as an activist, but rather, as an American citizen and, as such, he says he is “behind Bush” all the way.“That’s why I go on these shows once in awhile. I admire Bush to this extent: I did not know what to make of him at first. But I like a man who is aware of his own limitations,” Miller said.

Nobody wins when you post unformatted blocks of text. Doing 'view source' and copy/paste source code will include paragraphs. It ain't rocket science, just common courtesy.

Speaking of sanctimonious ingratitude, you never bothered to even thank "AxelPaulsenJr" for cleaning up after you.

No, no, don't bother.

Thanks, AxelPaulsenJr, for making the post readable.

Attention HTML Nazi. There is nothing more annoying than a whiny computer-nerd. The fact that you took the time out to respond to this thread 3 times says that you (a)could have easily resposted a cleaned-up article yourself, or (b) simply clicked on the link that WTF provided. But, no, you felt the need to lambaste someone who did you a favor, like a pushy PTA mother. Get a life.

HTML nazi? Where'd you come up with that one? Oh, I get it. Anytime you get annoyed with someone, you call them a nazi. How clever!

You don't have to get snippy with him. He's just reminded someone of the rules around here. Things work better that way. And perhaps he, like me, did go to the source to read the article and still felt it was worth saying something so that in the future this doesn't happen again.

Oh BTW, I did click on the link. Not only did it not give me the article, it jammed 2 pop-ups on my screen. I should have instead scrolled down and read the article made readable by either of the other two posters.

Five sourpusses, not three. But you still must be right. WaveThatFlag being dragged kicking and screaming into the world of beginning html.

Check on FR's main page, where it says under Help and Guidelines:

guide·line
n.
A statement or other indication of policy or procedure by which to determine a course of action.

Even Howlin's post was an html suggestion (so six, not five).

And two other people thought your effort was lacking, because they took the time and effort to correctly re-post your article. Eight, not six. As others have pointed out, you never thanked them. Ever get tired of people picking up after you?

Dennis Miller is an ally not a friend. He is pro-choice, so I can't say I agree with him politically. That being said, he is a celebrity saying Sean Penn, Martin Sheen and Susan Sarandon are wrong in their beliefs. And the same time praising George Bush the Younger and making Phil Donahue look like a dope. So, no, he is definitely not a FR icon. But he is an ally. Which is more than we can say for France and Germany these days.

Since I'm done chasing those damn kids off of my lawn, I'll respond.

Why don't you act like an adult and take a little time to learn how to post like everyone else. It can't be any harder than counting the ever-increasing sourpusses.

Why don't you act like an adult and stop worrying so much about the things you can't change? I know how to post. This article got posted in that format by acccident. Am I sorry about that? NO.

I've posted hundreds of articles correctly. And it may happen that I accidently do so again in the future. But if I don't, I'm not going to sweat it. And I'm not going to apologize to weenies like yourself who have nothing better to do than to keep the dialogue up on something that matters not a whit. Get a hobby, join a monestary, or start drinking heavily. But don't start thinking that your dorky reprimands are going to make me change my ways, because it ain't gonna happen.

You sure are fighting an uphill battle here, chum.

You refuse to cooperate with the standard, expected courtesy of FR; you attack nearly a dozen freepers; and you have single handedly ruined this entire thread that was otherwise an interesting topic.

Most normal freepers would have simply pleaded ignorance, or said they made a mistake, and move on. No, not you. You insist on being above all other freepers, and tell everyone THEY are wrong just because of a request for you to add a margin of effort that everyone else agrees is easy, acceptable, and necessary.

The cheese stands alone.

The only thing I insist on is that geeks like you who make a big deal about tech issues of any sort are boring. It is you who have ruined the thread by continuing to try to justify your henpecking. You had a problem with my post (ie, your inability to click on a link)? Why not me a private message (to which I would have undoubtedly responded "TS")? Why? Because you did, in fact, decide to appoint yourself "HTML nazi." This sort of behavior is always worse than the actual trangression. It is also dorky. Frankly I'm sick of it, and I refuse to put up with it any longer.

Hey.

How about everyone do the imitation of a bunch of interesting adults and start talking about this article, instead of harping and harping and screeching and screeching and nattering on and on like a bunch of ... of... hell, I don't know. A bunch of people acting like you all are acting, I suppose.

So, I advice you all to chill and quit being so friggin persnickity and childish --- ALL of you.

So. Dennis Miller, huh? I wouldn't vote for him, but I wouldn't punch him in the mouth, either. He does sound like a pro-abortion guy (btw, some in the pro-babymurder camp actually call abortion a "sacrament" - seems like Miller isn't familiar with that bit of nastiness) but he does take the time to attempt to deflate windbags - I give him a "B".

From Webster's Dictionary:

"nerd: an unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person; especially : one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits (computer nerds)."
