How do you start a Freeper club in your area.
Posted on 02/18/2003 10:09:06 PM PST by Shralp17
To my fellow Freepers. How did you start Freerepublic chapters? I would love to go protest the anti-war protestors but I don't have anyone to go with. Right now I am living in Moscow Idaho going to the UofI. Are there any Freerepublic groups nearby or fellow Freepers? Looking in the vincinity of Lewiston, Clarkston, Moscow, Pullman, and Spokane. If you are interested in supporting America please reply. Also reply if you have info on how you started a chapter. I am just tired of all the publicity the anti-war protests are getting. It is time to rise up and stop their emotional BS into the ground.

If you have put your flag up on your personal page, your name shows up on your state board. You can comunicate with your FR neighbors there and arrange to meet.

Your "Story of a Freeper Chapter" is a classic! I have it bookmarked and have referred it to several freepers.

The time tested method is to post a request for interested members (in breaking news) in your area and post notices to your state page. Next, go to FreeRepublic.net and set up a chapter. The FRN website has several tools for your group. Besides offering a private chat room to talk and discuss goals and strategies, it can host your pics for posting here, and a sign bank where you can upload your signs so others can download and print.
You will notice links on the right side of your pages that offer informative advice on issues such as handling the media, protesting, other activist websites with good information (some lefty, but who cares?), contact info for the media, government departments, elected officials, etc. As your members sing up, add them to your group as a member.
Once you get 4-5 people, propose a meeting at someones house or a local eatery. Meeting is the best way to get to know each other and form bonds! Have everyone discuss what they believe the goals and objectives of your chapter should be. Don't be afraid to set a date for your first FReep! Next, contact diotima and ask to be included in the biweekly Leadership Council where chapter leaders meet and discuss ideas, problems, opportunities, etc.
Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to drop a FReepmail!

It would be a great PR claim for FR to have a Moscow chapter. No need to clarify that the Free Republic lives in Idaho rather than Russia. :)
Of course I am sure we have at least some Russian lurker FReepers, who are welcome to create a Russian FR chapter as well.
Good luck in your endeavors.

I understand there was talk about starting on in Virgina but I never heard back from anyone. I know diotima must be busy so I'm not holding it aainst her but if you have any ideas or can get me an answer, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Please see post #8, above, from BobJ. It has a wealth of information in just a few paragraphs. Apparently members have even uploaded signs that we can access at FreeRepublic.net. Good luck!
