And we all know that only democrats live in Iowa, right? So it's okay to bash republicans, right? Kinda like hollywierd?

More intolerance from the left. The scary thing is that these people are indoctrinating our children with their socialist views.

Maybe, for the sake of content, it wouldn't be a bad thing to teach about religious intolerance, or, "How the Leftist Atheists are Betraying America". Or is THAT kind of free speech not okay?

Hey now, I'm from Iowa and also a teacher who would love to see this a-hole thrown out of teaching but it happened in Des Moines which is the liberal capitol of the state. Our governor Vilsack Of Sh-- main goal is to turn Iowa into a little Minneapolis. If you look at the voting demographics of Iowa you would see that they are remarkably similar to Bush's in the 2000 election. If it weren'r for Des Moines, Dubuque, and Iowa City, Iowa would go Conservative in every election. The only reason the a-hole is our governor is because of the labor unions and the homosexual community which the Des Moines Register endorses every damn day. And by the way, the "dung" refered to comes from the part of the state that is conservative, where people work hard to achieve their goals, and from those people that don't expect a handout from government. And from the people who vote Republican.

Are you really saying that teachers have first amendment protection in the classroom? How about if a teacher starts teaching creationism, are you OK with that? What about teaching that life begins at conception?
The reality is, the classroom, especially in elementary and high school, is not an area for unrestricted free speech, especially when funded by the government.
But you already knew that, didn't you?

Would you have made the same comment if the teacher in question had left a religious screed in the classroom?

As long as kids are forced (by policies) to go to these "public" schools, the teachers can keep their propaganda to themselves.
When the parents have an informed choice, and want their kids exposed to this crap, then the teacher can say what they want.

Sadly for you, all the rest of us know about Iowa is the reference by Senator Harken that the impeachment case against his president was 'dung'.

I'd like to say that's amazing, but truly it's not. I went to grade school in Iowa City in the early 70's and I can distinctly remember singing "Blowing in the Wind" for a school assembly. Sounds like government schools in Iowa haven't changed much.

The parents are playing a part in this as well. If the school isn't going to do anything about this guys attitudes towards fair politics then the parents should pull their children from his class.
