I ahve always been against these types of scams(and that is what they are). It has nothing to do with the voting process being "fair".
Generally, there are two years between elections. If a person can not find time in over 725 days to register to vote then that person is obviously not interested in the issue or in voting and does not deserve to be a part of a decision making process that affects all(and especially those who keep up with the issues and register). I also think all voting roles should be purged after each election. Then, only the serious people will be voting.

If you are too stupid to pass it or you can't name your rperesentatives, you don't vote!

Well, I'm from Tennessee and now my blood is boiling. The first mistake on allowing drivers licenses was a travesty - what an opening for fraud.
But now - we can allow voting on the day of elections? Pack the polls, double vote, don't have to be a citizen?
How stupid can we get? I cannot believe this. I am absolutely unable to clearly "converse".

What's the big deal? In Chicago the dead have been voting for years.

Hey mike, I'll go you one better. How about DAY AFTER ELECTION registration. It'd be sooo much easier that way. You'd know exactly how many rats to register from mental hospitals and cemetaries. It would be strange how the rats would win by one vote all of the time.

I might have overlooked this, but I did not see it in the Commercial Appeal (Memphis) this morning. I will call this to the attention of my representative (who happens to be the minority leader) Tre Hargett. I am sure he will like it no better than I do, but he ought to hear it from me.
I hope any other Tennessee Freepers will also take time to write their own reps.

Dear Tre,
I just learned that Rep. Mike Turner has introduced a bill (HB0018) to allow voting registration on election day. I believe that we already have opened the door to far too many opportunities for voter fraud, and this would just blow the door off its hinges. I urge your opposition to this and any similar measures.
Thank you.

You won't find it published in any newspaper as the liberal media supports the Rats no matter what. I wrote that article.

I'm against this bill completely, and it just infruiates me that above & beyond the stupidity of same day registration they blatently left out a requirement for proof of citizenship! Any non-citizen, legal or not can get a driver's license and have proof of residence. We all know that people working at elections are often not trained to perform simple election procedures - now they pile this on top of it!
Write, FAX or Email Mike Turner and your representative right away. This bill is NUTS! He's my Representative (the Republican that ran against him didn't do much to try to beat him). Mike voted against the income tax, but now he's lost his mind. There are a lot of Hispanics that have moved into the Old Hickory / Lakewood area, so I guess he's pandering to them.

My condolences on your representation. My state senator is John Kyle, who was the chief schemer and perpetrator in the senate of the attempt to foist an income tax on us using the Connecticut strategy. He proposed the "DOGS" horrible example budget and fought off all the attempts to amend it, in order to try to force acceptance of the new tax scheme.
He was thwarted, but not by much.
On the other hand, my rep is Tre Hargett, who is clearly conservative, and highly responsive to his constituents. The note I posted above came back in about a minute. That's extreme, but I always get a response within a few days.

Durn it! Jim Kyle, not John. I re-read your note and got the name "John" stuck in my head....

My letter to Mr. Turner
Dear Mr. Turner,
I just learned that you introduced a bill (HB0018) to allow voter registration on election day. We already have far too many opportunities for voter fraud in our state, and this measure would add insult to injury. We know from the last election cycle that our poll workers are so inadequately trained that they cannot even follow the simple procedures to count ballots, put them into a locked ballot box, and send them to the correct place.
Your bill offers no requirements for proof of citizenship other than, I assume, the SSN that must be provided on the application. Our once-a-year poll workers will not have adequate information available to determine if a person is a legal citizen of the U.S. and Tennessee as the laws of Tennessee require. This state cannot afford the technology that would be needed to give our poll workers information to determine if a person can legally vote. Each SSN should be checked to verify that it is valid. Each person registering to vote should be compared against rolls of persons who have committed felonies. Same day registration would allow all these requirements to be overlooked, and we would have people illegally voting in elections. This dilutes my vote as a citizen and legal voter.
I know that the Hispanic population is growing in our district, but there are many other ways to get legal citizens registered to vote. When I turned 18 in the fine community of Hermitage, I registered via a voter registration campaign at Kroger. These types of campaigns can just as easily be done in the Hispanic community.
I urge that you withdraw this bill and oppose any similar measures.
Thank you.
