Iraq, countering leftist peaceniks
Self (Vanity) | 2/16/2003 | Neutrino

Posted on 02/16/2003 9:25:11 AM PST by neutrino

This past weekend, we've seen a great deal of leftist activism.  The purported basis for the worldwide demonstrations is to prevent or discourage war against Iraq.  The real reasons are something else entirely, as is made clear in a variety of threads on FReepublic.

We face a frustrating problem.  On the one hand, we as conservatives have jobs, families, and responsibilities.  The leftists, socialists, and anti-Americans are, in many cases, free of such constraints.  How do we counter them?  During the weekend, our efforts seemed notably deficient.

I would like to solicit comments and ideas on how we can encourage President Bush and the Congress to proceed with the disarmament of Iraq and the necessary regime change which will both liberate the Iraqi people and weaken the global terrorist network.

My idea is to send letters, postcards, or e-mails to the President and our various representatives in both houses of Congress stating that we support President Bush in his efforts to deal with Iraq.

To that end, here is a link to the House of Representatives: HOUSE

And here is a link to the Senate: SENATE

I would be remiss if I didn't include a link to the President, George W. Bush

At the very least, please send an e-mail in support of the President.  Here's a link: e-mail the President.

Quite possibly, fellow FReepers, you'll have better ideas than do I.  Please share them.  It's time for action and our duty is clear!

The end results is that we will probably have more terrorism.

I cannot agree. Terrorists require suppliers - this is particularly the case with weapons of mass terror, such as nuclear, radioactive, biological, or chemical weapons. By eliminating a major source of such devices, we reduce the chance they will be unleashed on innocent people.

Perhaps we will always have a few fanatical terrorists that murder a small number of perfectly nice people; but we can lower the stakes so that the casualties are in the single digits instead of the thousands.

And if we CHANGE our policy because of that sh#t you just mentioned, you can rest assured that more terrorism will ensue on a much larger scale.

I think polls are a good indicator of the war effort, and there are many more people supporting the war effort than not.

Yup. The Lefties held a one day pro-Saddam global rally. We, the silent majority is in it for the long haul in getting rid of the menace in Baghad. Its a lot less flashy but much for effective in the long run.

Liberation of the Iraqi: yes; but weaken the global terrorist network: no! When you see millions of protesters in 600 cities on this planet, you can rest assured that these people do not like our policy, and would have sypathy to help the terrorists? The end results is that we will probably have more terrorism.

So you think appeasing terrorists is the way to reduce terrorism? You think standing up to the bully will result in more bullying while cowering will result in less?

No, I think we MUST remove Saddam! But unfortunately, the Moslems going to be upset about the death of the Iraqis, and will be seeking revenge?
