Hey, you're not far from my youngest son who's in Abingdon MD. He called me late yesterday to tell me they were not forecasting for inches anymore - but in FEET! Talked to my sister in Pasadena MD about an hour ago, they already have at least 10" on the ground and it's really coming down now with no end in sight. I told her how sorry I was to hear that - but it was really nice when we had breakfast on our balcony in Cocoa Beach and watched the dolphins play!!! She's not speaking to me right at the moment!

They've upped the expected totals in RI to over a foot.
It's 8 degrees. Got to bring in some wood and then I guess I'll go for a swim.
Stay warm!

There always seems to be a snowstorm around Valentine's Day. With the exception of last year, the amount is always measurable ----not just one of those "1 to 3 expected". Do you know the reason behind this phenomenom?
I understand about the meeting of the weather disturbances that cause snow - but why at this particular time? It intrigues me --- as well as the so-called January thaw.

Dog,I am a half hour from you-north,the video store had 40 people in line and it looks like I am going to finally clean out the back bedroom. We have about an inch here in Holland Pa.I keep telling my California brothers that it's the people in the mid west and out on the east coast that support this Hollywood BS. Look at acadamy awards night. Everyone is from Maine, Ohio, Tennessee, NY, North Carolina Utah, Texas, Michigan, etc etc.
In any event, here on the west coast, it's dropping down into the high 60s, and the sun is actually covered by clouds.
It's so cold, I had to put on long pants.
It's holding at 67 degrees at 10:00 a.m.

I don't know where they're measuring in Dover - but I think they've got these numbers backwards - I just shoveled more than 10 inches from the path to my front door and down my driveway. And there are drifts in some places down the street that are well over 2 feet.

Well, it was 22 below (F) last night here in Lancaster, New Hampshire. It's up to zero now.
Hasn't been really cold yet this winter, only 35 below so far.
Tonight Mostly clear. Lows 20 below to 25 below. Light and variable winds.
We only have a couple of feet on the ground so far, and it looks like most of this storm will miss us,

The bichon we had for 10 years before she died (I still miss her, terribly) used to get completely stalled out in big snows in the backyard while on her bathroom trips. She would just stop dead out in a snowbank, and we had to go and get her, every time.

There always seems to be a snowstorm around Valentine's Day. Do you know the reason behind this phenomenom? Yes I do, it's Mother Nature trying to give the guys a good excuse for not getting their Significant Other a Valentine's Day card and chocolates, etc.
Didn't come in time for this year though!

It would appear from the National RCM summary the center of circulation is now passing about 75 miles due south of Nashville, TN.

Nice rig.
Mine devoured 2 newspapers hidden under almost 18" of snow and snapped a shear pin.

Noticed that BWI & DCA are closed till 7 PM. In Philly I calculated that the percentage of cancelled flights are at least 75%. The PA trunpike is shut down now at exit 23 in Downingtown - traffic reports say 40 car pile up.
