Kurds remind the anti-war rally about Saddam`s atrocities
15/02/2003   KurdishMedia.com - By Bryar Mariwani
London (KurdishMedia.com) 15 February 2003: An estimated two million people participated in the anti-war rally in the British capital, London, according to the organizers. The police said that the figure was 750,000. A significant number of Kurds participated in the rally to remind the peaceful protesting people of Saddam’s atrocities.

Carrying banners and pictures of the Halabja massacre, the Kurds amazed the angry anti-war protesters. The banners were saying ’No to Dictatorship’, ’Remember Halabja’ and Victims of Saddam’s chemical weapons’.

Speaking to KurdishMedia.com, Tarza Dilshad, a Kurdish participant said I came here to remind these people about what Saddam did to the Kurds. I am not against a war on Saddam, but at the same I am scared about the fate of my family in South Kurdistan. Saddam might attack Kurdistan with chemical weapons.

Azad Ali, another Kurdish participant said some people just don’t understand the situation. Saddam is a danger to the whole world. Ask the Kurds and they will tell you about it. He used chemical weapons in the past and he might use them again at anytime.

Saddam Hussein, the head of the Iraqi government, used chemical weapons against the Kurds in the 1980s. The Kurdish town of Halabja was bombed with Saddam’s chemical weapons in 1988 killing more than 5000 Kurds.

The Iraqi government conducted a serious of genocide operations called Anfal against the Kurds in the 1980s, killing more than 182,000 innocent Kurds.

Young Faili Kurds were used as lab-rats in Saddam’s chemical and biological testing laboratories in the 1980s during the Iraqi-Iranian war.

Many people oppose a war on Saddam Hussein while they have never felt what it is like to be in Iraq.

"Many people oppose a war on Saddam Hussein while they have never felt what it is like to be in Iraq."

An understatement ... Many people oppose a war on Saddam withou a clue as to what Iraq is really about.

The "peace" protesters are NOT protesting war; they're protesting Bush. I'm afraid it's that simple. If Clinton (or Gore) were prosecuting this war in the exact same manner Dubya is now doing (and that's a big if), does anyone truly believe their would be an any anti-war movement whatsoever?

Anaka is going to beat Mickelson in may. She will also have all the media instead of Tiger.

A sports writer asked Mickelson how he thought Anaka would do and he said she would finish in 20th place. Then they asked him how he would do and he said he hoped he finished 19th or higher.LOL!

I hope Mickelson doesn't make any wisecracks about the inferiority of Anaka's "equipment."

I can easily see the two playing in the same group (somewhere back in the pack) on the final day heading onto the back nine all even, and Phil choking his brains out. ....and I'd love to see it.

You are so right. Where were all the anti-war protestors when we went into Haiti & Kosovo? Where were they when we bombed the Sudan & Afghanistan? The liberals' hypocrisy sickens me.

The sad part is that this story and that letter by the Iraqi dissident in the Guardian will be dismissed by the peaceniks as part of a CIA disinformation campaign.
