The peaceniks had scheduled February 15th as their big day to protest the war. They failed to place an order for good weather. Though the anti-America crowd was very large, five Mid-Missouri Patriots gathered with umbrellas and warm clothing to try to counter the damage done to our country by weasel-tongued faux-pacifists.
One highlight of the morning was when an older woman came across the street to yell at DogRobber, calling him names like moron and idiot and praising the words and position of the Trifecta of Old Europe, France, Germany and Belgium. What was surreal was that she was FRENCH! Bretmilk could not resist and asked her if she spoke German and when she relied No, he said your welcome. Of course, being French, she didnt even notice the import of his words. I guess you really cannot get a Frenchwomans attention unless you march into Paris with 10 Divisions. I suppose if we had gotten nasty with her she would have surrendered right there in the street. Always the gentleman, DogRobber was ready to loan her his white handkerchief (chivalry is not dead in Missouri).
As if we needed more entertainment, the peaceniks brought out their drums and maracas and did some strange dance steps (looking suspiciously like the old funky-chicken) as they encouraged each other to fall into line for their march to the courthouse one block away. Bret observed that the unfolding scene reminded him of the Lemming, that small brown furry rodent creature that is reputed to mass together in large chittering numbers and blindly follow their leaders off a cliff. Unfortunately, the Missouri River Bluffs are twenty miles out of town and these Lemmings didnt seem to have the stamina to make it that far.
Although we were soaked to the bone, and our signs were limp with the letters dripping off, we left happy. Bret, his wife, and Prov, with Zip joining them, intend to do it all again in Jefferson City when the peaceniks there march to the Capital Building. Lets hope the roads dont freeze until after their travels, or is that travails? It is mental torture trying to deal with the peaceniks.
Oh, and the Capital Building is on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River! (High Lemming Risk?)
This is Missouri. If you don't like the weather, wait an hour.
Drippy letters.

They stayed dry until a postal employee made them move.
Lemming March.
Sometimes irony is not delicious.
I'd like to bump this thread and give my heartfelt apology to all especially the protesters. On this and other threads, I have been under the mistaken impression that the leftists were conducting anti US rallies today. I have come to realize that these liberals are instead throwing a huge going away party for their best friend, Saddam Hussein. So to the left and liberals I say, as much as I hate him, I can't deny you his good bye party. Doing such seems like sour grapes and makes me seem small and petty. Good friends don't come along often and it can be really painful when they've gone. Please cheer up. Not to mock your pain, but there are plenty of dictators who are almost as vile and murderous as Saddam. I'm sure one of them will be glad to win Saddam's place in your heart. But I do realize that nothing will ever take Saddam's place for you. Especially because not many of them are billionaires like Saddam. So I would like to join with these protesters in saying, "Bon Voyage Saddam". See, we can agree on something. I hope everyone will accept this sincere apology. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the 3PM rally on our state Capitol steps, again they gave up on protesting outside and went into the Capitol building. We stayed outside to be more visible and to let our troops know they had support. Wimps.....
I appreciate the report. We are getting the message out to our troops that they ARE loved and respected and that the hippie peaceniks do not represent real America. Thanks
Hey, Sam ! I found an article posted by Pokey78 that has the exact and correct quote of the above. In the War on Terror, Tony Blair has been our best advocate on the other side of the pond, imho...
Tony Blair: The price of my conviction
But there are also consequences of 'stop the war'. There will be no march for the victims of Saddam, no protests about the thousands of children that die needlessly every year under his rule, no righteous anger over the torture chambers which if he is left in power, will remain in being.
I rejoice that we live in a country where peaceful protest is a natural part of our democratic process. But I ask the marchers to understand this.
I do not seek unpopularity as a badge of honour. But sometimes it is the price of leadership and the cost of conviction.
If there are 500,000 on the [Stop the War] march, that is still less than the number of people whose deaths Saddam has been responsible for. If there are one million, that is still less than the number of people who died in the wars he started.
So if the result of peace is Saddam staying in power, not disarmed, then I tell you there are consequences paid in blood for that decision too. But these victims will never be seen, never feature on our TV screens or inspire millions to take to the streets. But they will exist none the less.
GREAT JOB!
