Just got off the phone with Firebrand. The NYPD is jerking us around as usual. We are allowed to go through only on 40th street and will have to converge at the corner of 41st street and 1st avenue.I am updating the hotline 917-387-8865 of any changes.
I will try to post with my pocket pc from the location as soon as I get there. Getting in my car and will try to drive into Manhattan.

Thanks for the Ping. Great Work All!
"we need to find out who those 1,000 pro Bush portesters at Columbus circle were and whether we can contact them and coordinate our activities."
If I might suggest: make up FreeRepublic.com business cards (cut-up sheets of 8.5 x 11 paper) and write your screen names on the back, and give them to as many people as you can introduce yourselves to at these rallys.

Confessions:
Yes, I wasn't there.
Yes, I planned to go.
Yes, it was the weather: we had to dart up to Vermont and try to get back (which we then gave up on doing) due to snow concerns. By the time of the early morning Saturday forecast, I was already saying to myself "no way." It's just that I have had to fit too much in this weekend.
I OWE YOU GUYS ONE FREEP!! I'll be there next time, I promise. The weather strangeness forecast for laster this weekend causes all kinds of collateral/planning/logistic problems.
Isn't sliwah THE BEST SPEAKER!
Well, confessions concluded, a BIG BUMP to NYC. GOOD JOB!

Yes, a big bump for our 'Pod, who made it up! I *really* wish I could have been there, *had* to move faster this weekend on accoutn of snow, but I so wanted to return the favor of our dedicated NY freepers who have no problem travelling south to our stuff. I OWE THEM one Freep!

Excellent article from Voice of America! The VOA contacted the DC Chapter after the January 18 rally and asked us for a tape of our speakers' remarks. We got one to them and they used it in one of their broadcasts. Methinks we should contact them ahead of time and let them know what when we are planning a rally!
You guys all did a great job yesterday! FReep On!

They're permitted to walk (march?) as long as they leave room for pedestrians to get through. It figures. The left-wingers, of course, didn't do this. Having spent way too much time amongst them yesterday, the sidewalks were jammed with them and I had to push my way through them to get anywhere. Yikes, what a nightmare!

Ask any officer where the counter rally is. Tried that with about a dozen officers. Not a single one had any idea where our rally was. :-( Perhaps the ones near our rally knew.

Yikes! I forgot to get a case of toilet paper... oh well, I'm glad I didn't throw out the old phone book. ;-)
I find it useful to keep an old copy of the New York Slimes for that purpose.

Thanks for braving the cold and the commies yesterday! You don't know how true that is. I spent 2-and-a-half hours yesterday walking amongst them trying to get to our rally. Alas, I didn't get to our rally in time, but I finally made it into McFadden's. Whew!

Oh come on. That wine glass clearly had a defective stem.
I oughta sue someone. ;D

Our friends waving the "Bush is evil" sign should go live in Iraq, since they find life in the U.S. so unbearable.
To: NYC GOP Chick
Great pics! Unfortunately I got there late and missed some of the best signs, so I'm seeing them now for the first time.
To: hellinahandcart
Yeah, I think I saw a very small crack in the stem of that glass....ROTFLOL, you just helped it along a bit..hhc...

Walking among all those unwashed for that 1+ hour was enough -- never mind for 20 blocks!! Well, you were more fortunate than I. I walked in their midst from 42nd to 70-something St. before I headed east to continue trying to get to our rally. They were everywhere I went! 3rd Av, 2nd Av, 1st Av ... ARRGH! What a nightmare! 2.5 hours after I had arrived at Grand Central a policeman escorted me to McFaddens.

Missed you up here! See you at the Trulock book signing?I didn't want to be so far away from home with the storm coming. I'm not sure yet about the book signing. Sounds like fun, though!

I got there just as we were being banished back into No Man's Land. Perhaps the First Amendment should be reworded to read "Patriots too have the freedom to assemble...but only where nobody can see them."
