[history]
A mother pleaded guilty to a felony battery charge today after she was shown on a store surveillance videotape repeatedly striking her 4-year-old daughter in a parking lot.
The judge sentenced Madelyne Toogood, 26, under misdemeanor guidelines, giving her a one-year suspended sentence, with a year on probation and a $500 fine. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dropped a more serious charge of battery of a child and a misdemeanor charge of giving police officers a false address.

``I've pretty much been crucified by everything that's happened,'' Toogood said. ``I don't know if my life will ever be the same. I've been persecuted by the press.''
Yeah, that's too bad.

"...one-year suspended sentence, with a year on probation and a $500 fine..."I certainly hope she is under surveillance in all her parenting.

Toogood sobbed uncontrollably while testifying during Friday's hearing, prompting her husband to leave the courtroom. Well, the woman cried, for heaven's sake. We must have arrived at the truth. < /sarcasm>

I wonder how here uncontrollable sobbing would prompt her husband to leave the courtroom. Maybe he was about to sob uncontrollably as well.

Maybe he nabbed a wallet.

``I've pretty much been crucified by everything that's happened,'' Toogood said. ``I don't know if my life will ever be the same. I've been persecuted by the press.'' It's all about you, isn't it? There's not a breath of concern for the daughter that was getting beat up.
Maybe this skiff will think twice before smacking her daughter around.
To: Excuse_My_Bellicosity
She'll probably sell the movie rights to her story and live happily ever after.
To: Excuse_My_Bellicosity
She won't. She'll just look around for cameras next time. People like her are too ignorant to learn. I wonder if the grandma beats the girl up as well? I am sure mommy dearest learned her "parenting skills" and "anger managment" from grandma. Tinkers believe rules are for the "other" people, not them. They have every excuse in the world. Disgusting people.

Hehehe... Ya gotta love those parking lot cams...
Wonder how many times she's beaten this kid before? How many others she's clobbered? We already know that as an "Irish Traveler" she's part of a criminal conspiracy. She's also a convicted thief.
To: Bonaparte
Yeah...and she's been persecuted by the press for Gawd'ssake! Her life (dismal as it is) will never be the same. Damn justice system just hurts poor foolk in this country, doesn't it?

She thinks she's the victim. Figures.
Maybe they're just upset because they've lost a whole season of crisscrossing the country scamming senior citizens.
