One note before we delve into the never-never land of flag politics: We're hearing that state Sen. Robert Lamutt, a Republican from east Cobb County, is two weeks away from announcing for the 6th Congressional District to replace Johnny Isakson. He says he's already got $1 million of personal money set aside for the task.

A whole raftful of Republicans are expected to make a grab for the seat, including Bob Barr. But unless someone jumps ahead, Lamutt will be the first.

Apart from having a last name that was derived from French dogs, does anybody know who this guy is and where does he stand on the issues? Or, to get to the point, is he a clone of Johnny Isakson?

That's what I'm worried about here. If the guy has $1m socked away already for the seat, he might be a rich RINO. Although given Bob Barr's dreadful performance last year, might end up having to support him to keep the seat from going to an Isaksonite.
