A 19-year-old woman was indicted Thursday on a charge of murder in the death of an Irving waitress.

Sarah Foust told police she was driving the car on Jan. 3 when it struck Jennifer Sanchez, a 20-year-old college student. Ms. Sanchez was trying to get the license plate number from the car carrying a group of diners who had skipped out on a $131 tab at a Bennigan's restaurant.

Ms. Sanchez was thrown from the car roof after being struck, and she died of head injuries.

Irving police testified at a hearing last month that Ms. Sanchez had nowhere to go to get out of the way of the car and that witnesses reported seeing her screaming and banging on top of the car before she fell.

Irving police said Ms. Foust, along with Kortnie Henson, 19, David Thornton, 19, and Michael John Prewitt, 26, were served nine alcoholic drinks at the restaurant. Ms. Henson and Mr. Thornton, who were in the car with Ms. Foust, have been charged with theft of service. Mr. Prewitt left the restaurant on foot and is wanted on misdemeanor warrants that accuse him of theft of service and providing alcohol to minors.
