President Bush, you are wrong, dead wrong. There, I said it, loud and clear, and in very certain terms. And it feels good to call you dead wrong on issues that affect each and every American.
Everyone has been questioning you on your policies, everyone from John Q. Public and the news commentators, to the pundits and experts on economy and foreign policy. But I will not question you anymore, nor give you the benefit of the doubt. You are dead wrong on where you are leading the nation, and I will no longer follow.
Economically, we are in the outhouse, with the Dow Jones down 1,800 points since last year's State of the Union speech, and the national debt climbing upward at an enormous and dizzying rate.
In fact, ever since you took office, the economy has suffered, and it is a hard stretch for anyone to blame it all on the previous administration.
You stated in the first goal of your 2003 State of the Union speech that "every man and woman who seeks a job" should be employed, yet unemployment statistics are climbing higher than they have for decades, with 100,000 jobs lost last month alone, and more joblessness is predicted.
Your solution of giving an average $1,100 in tax relief to the average household to stimulate the economy and reinvest in the stock market is ludicrous to anyone who has tried to keep up with the escalating cost of just plain living.
How long has it been since you filled up your car with gas, bought breakfast cereal, heated your home or sent your children to a public school that now charges for books, materials and services that are no longer part of your educational budget?
Most Americans do not fit into your corporate tax profile, which benefits the financially elite. Most Americans have real money worries, and they are not better off than they were last year, or the year before, or for that matter since you have taken office.
The second half of your speech centered on the impending war with Iraq. What war, and why war? Why are you and others talking about a horrible concept as if it were a reality? Why are we even considering a military option in a chemical and nuclear age where one wrong decision could foster a new definition of the term "holocaust."
Bad decisions are always based on either incomplete or incorrect information (because no sane person wants to make a bad decision), yet there has been no new proof of threat shown to the American public that would merit an authorization for war with Iraq.
Saddam Hussein poses no more an actual threat to the world than he did five years ago, yet Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida in the past year and a half have restructured our security at home and abroad not because of his threats, but because of his actions.
You spoke about the "ideology of power and domination," and Saddam Hussein's "utter contempt for the world." It might be wise to remember that those same phrases have been used by your critics in relationship to both your foreign policy and attitude concerning unilateral decisions pressing for military action in Iraq.
Do we not also possess biological, chemical and nuclear weapons that could obliterate not just one man who is a dictator, but a country and people who remain silent because of a sense of powerlessness?
Maybe in my frustration I write this out of a sense of powerlessness, as the closing words of your State of the Union speech echo in my head. You stated that "if war is forced upon us we will prevail." Who is forcing us? Is it you, Mr. President?

I'm convinced that we need to make income taxes voluntary so folks like Ms. Krysinski can pay as much as they want.
However, I am sure that Ms. Krysinski has changed he mind on Iraq since Secreatary Powell has made his presentation to the UN. She'll have to find something else to hate the President about.
A word of advice...don't bother.
I simply amazed at these people with so little current infomation have so much knowledge. Shes got a alot of big name company, too, all with the "right" answers but no qualifications that would back up ther opinions..
There are plenty of good writers out there. I would hope the management would find one of them and let this person find something she's more suited for. If you want to slam Bush that's one thing. If you want to embarass yourself with an inadequate display of writing skills that's another.
How did this get into print?
I suggest we ask Ms. Krysinski if she was alive on 9/11/01. (It is doubtful since her words appear to be the goo-gooing of an infant.) The attacks on the United States that day had a HUGE impact on more than buildings and fields. Why do people seem to forget that? We are still suffering the economic consequences of the Osama 19.
And for the "Bush Knew" gang, I offer the following question: "Why didn't BJ Clinton ('It's the economy, stupid!') WARN the United States about WorldCom and Enron and the like?" He was pretend-president when they were blowing up their financial balloons, after all! (Certainly those CEOs learned from the best hijinkin' duo, Mr. & Mrs. Whitewater-IsIs-CattleFutures.) Unfortunately for us, his real citizens, those balloons burst under the current (genuinely elected) President, who is, IMO, quite adept at handling a multitude of top priority items at one time.
