Freep anti-US Dave Matthews !
Dave Matthews Band - Fan Site ^ | 02/08/2003

...I fear that our true motivation is about oil and our own flailing economy; about the failure to destroy Al Qaeda and about revenge. It is criminal to put our servicemen and women in harm's way and to put the lives of so many civilians on the line for the misguided frustrations of the Bush administration.

Bottom line: this war is wrong and this war is un-American.

Peacefully submitted,
Dave Matthews

I'm not wasting one moment of my time commenting to this idiot and his pseudo intellectual emission of cranial flatus. Celebrity opinion is given too much regard. Personally, I give celebrity opinion the same regard dogs give trees and fire hydrants.

Here's my first attempt at freeping someone. What do you think?

"Can the righteous indignation.

The policy of Saddam Hussein's Iraq is to execute the children of political dissidents in front of their parents. How sympathetic of you to expect the subjects of such a government to effect regime change on their own.

The inspections aren't working either, Skippy. So don't even go there.

And before the inevitable "no blood for oil" hysterics ensue, try, just try, to consider this: if this were all about oil, we would've plundered the Iraqi oil fields the last time we were over there. Kinda makes you wonder why such an imperialist, oil-thirsty hegemon like the United States just walked away from that, dunnit? If you're so interested in foreign policy that is determined by oil interests, then I humbly refer you to that great pillar of national resolve and courage, France.

As a fan of your music and a regular Jane America, I can't tell you how disappointed I am by your statement. It reeks of the kind of moral certainty that only a willing ignorance of the facts can prescribe.

Your heaving conscience may be clear, now. But, should you loosen the tin foil cap enough to accommodate circulation once again, you might be surprised to learn that there was nothing to burden your conscience in the first place...and that your mouth has now relegated you to the ranks of Sean Penn and Barbara Streisand (lest you construe that as a compliment, outside of the narrow circles that you seem to travel in, Sean and Babs aren't the most esteemed of Americans)

Good luck. Poser."

My email's title blocked asked: "why are you against liberating Iraqis?".
The message said his political views are clouding judgement about freeing people from a tyrant.

A copy of my letter to his website...
Mr. Matthews,
You call the United States a rogue nation.
You support and keep ruthless dictators in power.
You act like you know more than the people who lead your country.
I am appalled.
I was a great fan, almost as much as the basketball player Eric Chenowith himself, but now, I think you suck, and I will not buy any more of your albums in the future. As a matter of fact, the albums I do own, I will rip at the highest bit-rate and distribute freely on a file-sharing network.
Actually, I am kidding. I wouldn't give you the promotion. You and the rest of the liberals are like "Ants Marching" to me. Call a spade a spade, Mr. Matthews. You can't.
Peacefully Submitted,
Me

Mr. Matthews,

Through my son I learned of your life, and the tragedies your family endured. While hospitalized from a major disease my son often commented on you as an inspiration to him. From this I developed an appreciation of you as a person and have even started enjoying some of your music. Aaron enthusiastically told me about your own support of our troops through the USO which only increased my admiration for you.

It was with an element of sorrow that I read your statement today. Like you, I must act upon my own convictions.

In your statement you say that Saddam Hussein is only a threat to his own people and his neighbors, and that the United States should not be involved in regime change in Iraq. I cannot help but remember the terrible struggle in your native country.

Had not other nations, in particular the United States, not involved itself in a regime change in South Africa I am not sure what conditions would exist there today. Regime change may not have occurred, but surely not as soon as it did which was far too late. I am also convinced that the cost of the change would have been far bloodier and lasting.

"It is criminal to put our servicemen and women in harm's way . . . for the misguided frustrations of the Bush administration."

As an officer with over thirty years service I am confident that I speak for the vast majority of my comrades when I say your hollow concern for our welfare is not welcomed. Do not dare to presume to use our service in the pursuit of your political agenda.

I will follow my own conscience now and will no longer welcome your music into our home.

Who's Dave Matthews?

Some way overrated - and evidently mentally handicapped - musician.

Matthews has gone on a couple of USO tours in the last year. Please contact the USO and demand that they keep him away from our folks in uniform. Let him go entertain Saddam's troops next time.

Someone inform this a hole that this war is about Saddam breaking the "peace" treaty of Gulf War I. He's continuing to build up arms (WMD) which he is prohibited from having. Or is "gun control" only for those who obey the law?

My email bounced back. Maybe his mailbox is now full or they have temporarily shut it down? Cowards like to make statements but shut out opposing thoughts.

Well, he recently bought the land next to mine so I'll do my best. the sad thing is, he has been pretty good to Charlottesville from a philanthropic standpoint. But he does have a drinking problem and some confusion regarding his sexual oritentation, though, and that might be clouding his judgement.

Dear Dumb-ass,

No, the bottom line is that you are wrong and you are un-American. People like you won't be happy until you see mushroom clouds in North America. It's amazing that you hate the very people who have made you a success in the past.

Do us all a favor and just stick to playing your banal music. Spouting your pin-head, uninformed, Hollywood pop-philosophy just makes those of us who live in the real world realize that practically all of the entertainment community are the intellectual and moral equivalents of Michael Jackson.

I hope you get better,

etc.

Just as long as I don't have to listen for the crap he claims is music. Few things make me change the radio station faster than a Dave Matthews Band song (is there more than one, they all sound alike to me). With the possible exception of Tom Daschole talking.

Anyone have any pictures of Saddamnit gassing his own people or nuclear bombs going off we could mail to Dave?
His popularity must be waning...he's now resorting to liberal tricks for publicity.

There's a much better way to get the point across:

"Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho! Where were you on Kosovo?"

Ya gotta wonder how talented the guy is when he names his band "The Dave Matthews Band".

Any bets on whether Dave Matthews dog is named Dog?
