Penn and Teller. Very talented, but low-lifes nonetheless.

I wonder if AL Qaeda ever thought of targeting Las Vegas with a WMD? Fortunately for the good people who live there, the terrorists probably have the good sense not to pi$$ off the mobsters that own it.

"One of our basic American rights is freedom of religion," reads the petition. "That enjoins on all of us the obligation to respect one another's faith, regardless of whether or not we agree with it. This was not `performance art,' but an act of hatred against Christianity and against all religion."

"What they did was an absolutely unspeakable thing," Rita Cummins said. "They've offended every single one of us. To blaspheme Jesus Christ like that was beyond bad taste. It was an incredibly offensive thing."

There is nothing that says you have to respect or condone religion or actions, contrary to the beliefs of liberals. Sorry, but as offensive as this was, there is nothing that says you have the right to NOT be offended. I suggest that these people put their efforts into boycots and the like, rather than trying to take any sort of legal action.

If you don't like their act don't go see it. If you don't like them, try to encourage others to avoid seeing their act. I do not live in a country where sombody else's idea of blaspheme needs to be my concern. There are countries like that. If you want to live in one try Saudi Arabia. I'll take America, warts and all.

As for Penn and Teller, they're mildly amusing I suppose, but I find magic tricks to be mostly boring.

--I'd like to see that pair of smirking arschlochs go somewhere such as Paris with it's Muslim population and do a skit of say, Abraham doing a "simulated" sex act on Mohammed--or even Hollywood (and this is not meant as anti-Semitism) and do Solomon doing David--what would happen to their careers then?

After Gillette delivered a few one liners about Johnathan, a sheet was removed from a cart, revealing Teller, who appeared to be on a cross, naked from the waist down. A diminutive man appeared to be simulating oral sex on Teller.

Whatever your religious convictions, one must consider this gross. Riviera has sent an apology but I will still let them know how I feel about this.

It wasn't Teller at all; it was Bill Clinton, he just thinks he's Jesus Christ.

There was an attempt to get ABC to eliminate Penn And Teller's act from the Super Bowl but Disney went through with the event (it was done on both ends of the game broadcast).

Depending on the nature of laws in Las Vegas, the simulated(?)sex act could be a violation of obscenity laws. Apart from that, no it does not sound to be "illegal" what they did onstage but the same First Ammendment that gives them the right to do this give us the right to criticize them and build up a boycott of their act and those who would support them.

For the record, here was the Amazing Johnathan's comment on the matter:

Amazing Johnathan said he was aware that a number of "gospel magicians" walked out and raised cane.

"This was performance art," said Johnathan, who moves to a new, open-ended run at the Flamingo on Saturday. "I know that Penn is a practicing atheist, and I agree with him that Christianity can be dangerous. Look at the Trade Center. That was done in the name of religion."

Penn & Teller declined comment
