My Adress to the American people
Posted on 02/06/2003 8:04:36 AM PST by Michael81Dus
Dear friends and people of the United States of America!
Your President (supported by your government and Congress) is leading you in a war against the Republic of Iraq. It seems that this decision is already made and nobody can stop that war now - except your President or Saddam Hussein. Since noone expects Hussein to disarm his military or your President to paddle back, the world will go through that war.
Many nations, peoples and government all over the world don´t want that war - not only the Iraqi leadership and its friends. And there are many reasons why people don´t support your war. Some of them are reasonable, some may be accepted and some may not.
I call you to make differences why people don´t want that war. Some people hate your politics of the past or present, some are envious, some are pacifists and dislike all kinds of military or war in general, some don´t believe that Iraq has an evil leadership, some want a UN resolution before starting the strikes, etc.
Your President is doing the right - he keeps up the pressure on Iraq until Saddam Hussein has no WMD anymore. That means that he will go to the very end: ordering your troops to combat against Iraq.
Some of your troops may die while they´re fighting for the freedom, independance and security not only of the United States of America, but of the entire civilized world. That is the greatest contribution to mankind one can do - giving his/her life for the freedom of others. And your troops deserve respect for being ready to lose life. We all hope that this future war will not lead to many casualties, but that we all know that we´re going to see dead Iraqis as well as US soldiers coming home in flag-covered coffins.
Let me tell you, that - no matter your ALLIED GOVERNMENTS behave before that war - we all mourn for your deads, respecting their task.
Alliances will not break over differences on the war against Iraq. Saddam Hussein is not worth to end friendship with other nations! The United States are not only fighting a war against Iraq, but also against terrorism - and they´re doing that with many nations. Please keep in mind that governments who do not support the way you´re handling the Iraqi conflict are supporting you in the war against terrorism.
Finally, I hope that these strikes will end soon so that the world will be a safier place.
God bless you and the allied troops being ready to complete the mission of 1991!
Michael

The top three; France, Germany, and Russia are posturing in such a way as to be a warning for future ventures. These are countries heavily dominated by communist influence, along with our country with its Democrat Party. These countries and our Democrat party want us to see them as patriots, but they are not, and the sooner we make it clear that we see their agenda, the better. Even if that makes us ememies.

Precisely. Perhaps Germany and France and so on should remember just this.
We will disarm him. If that causes an end to friendships between our nation and yours, that is up to your leader.
And if the way he comported himself heading up to last year's election is any indication, he doesn't think too much of our friendship anyway.
Nice try though. "Getting your way isn't worth losing friendships, so do it my way. Give up my way? Surely you jest, getting my way is more important than any friendship with you!" Sheesh.

The German Socialists called us - the oppositional and pro-US Christian Democratic Union- "anti-patriotic" by calling to support the US. Just imagine how silly they´re. It were the SPD party who was against German rearmament, German NATO membership, Pershing II, rapid reunification or the use of German troops outside the NATO area! Fools.

Let me add my voice to those thanking you for those kind words. It's good to know that there are a few people out there that recognize we're not just doing this for our own selfish reasons, but to hopefully try and make the world a better place in the long run for everyone.
I truly hope that you and your countrymen can end up with much better government leadership in the near future, because you deserve it. I know that eight years of Bill Clinton felt like an eternity to me, so I can imagine what you must be going through!

I agree with you that Schröder is an a**ho*e! But remember that many people don´t like the way he is treating with your government. And that we still provide help in the war against terrorism.
Schröder painted himself into a corner, he cannot escape. That´s why we´re so isolated.

I know there are many Germans who do not agree. The problem is that too many do agree, more than a majority.
Probably relations between our lands are going to continue to be strained as long as your land is committed to socialism and ours is resistant to it.
And I pray that our resistance to socialism will be increasing, not decreasing.

Reagan doesn't even remember Nancy anymore, so I doubt he knows much of anything anymore, more's the pity.
As for Germany, I'm pretty convinced that it was the way in which this disagreement over Iraq was communicated that has everyone so pissed off at Germany, rather than the disagreement itself. The nasty way Schroeder shamelessly exploited and played into anti-US sentiment (not to be confused with anti-war sentiment) to get himself re-elected is what set off the firestorm. I'm sure there are Germans who are anti-war out of true conviction, but I'm thoroughly convinced that most people everywhere (not just Germany) are using the "anti-war" platform as a vehicle to express their more vehement anti-US stance. I would conservatively estimate that at least 70% of folks who say they are against striking Iraq are really anti-US or anti-Bush. It's funny, but we didn't see all these anti-war protests when President Clinton and the Europeans completely by-pass the UN to go into Kosovo, when there was "no imminent threat" to the U.S. or its main Allies.
