Please help me FReep this "cartoon"...
The Philadelphia Daily News ^ | 02/04/03 | Signe Wilkinson

You make the call.

I don't usually get my boxers in a bunch, but I find this cartoon offensive.

Unfortunately, the Philadelphia Daily News doesn't provide an e-mail address for Signe.

If any of you Philadelphia area FReepers know how to contact and respond to this, let me know

Was is it on the editorial page? If so, contact the editorial dept. Maybe contact the editorial dept, anyway. I think that political cartoons are under the auspices of the editorial page regardless of where they are found in the paper.

you wanna see tactless--check out the ones they did after the State of the Union speech -- almost every one was critical and very nasty -- most implying that the President was a "cowboy warmonger" and/or a "moron" who is a Cheney/Poppy "puppet"

Odd, but when the sainted and beloved JFK ordered the Bay of Pigs invasion, I don't recall any slimy, gutless cartoons such as this.

Ooops....almost forgot. It was Eisenhower's fault....

I saw them. But this one goes over the line with it making Bush look like he does not care about such a tragedy just because he is doing his job regarding Iraq. It is SICK!

I agree with you... it was disgusting :(

It probably won't do any good, but I did send letters stating that, in my opinion, this cartoon was in the poorest taste I've ever seen.

Very sad when professional journalism decays so badly into simple obvious hatred and viciousness.

I heard back from the paper about my letter on the cartoon... they stated they will be publishing my comments in their letters page :)

This is will I wrote them:

As a Pennsylvania resident, I am embarrassed to have your paper represent our state. I absolutely support political cartoons, but there is an ethical standard that should be met. Your cartoon showing Bush pushing a war button was vicious, in poor taste, and extreme in its obvious hatred for our elected President.

Your paper was not supporting political free speech by that cartoon, instead it was totally unprofessional and crossed every boundary of good taste.

I do NOT appreciate your offensive cartoon with BUSH and his hand on the button while speaking of the Shuttle accident, by Signe.

I think Bush bashing by the liberal media has gotten WAY out of hand. I will no longer ready your newspaper.

Unfortunately, your response will fall on deaf ears more than likely. Maybe someone could draw up a sketch of Monica sitting at the former Impeachident's desk with Clinton in the background (bulbous pimply nose smoking a wet cigar eating a big mac in his undershorts and all...) with Monica sitting in a thong with a "stained" half cut t-shirt with the words "Piece not Whore" centerd on the front, sitting in front of a similar button with an "asteroids" game like style computer screen with pictures of a camel, an obliterated aspirin factory, and a tent, with the caption..."in crimes like these...whores must move on..." ought to get someone's attention....

...but it will never get printed, I'm sure..
